Need some help with setting up a Lyro Delos

Yesterday I got a Lyro Delos cartridge. After mounting it and setting it up I connected to a setup transformer set at 10X and got ready to be amazed. Well didn't go as well as expected. The transformer seems to be giving it to much gain and I am getting the same noise you hear when the volume is at 100% and music is not playing. My pre-amp has a built-in tube MM phono stage that I connected the transformer. I also have a Project II SE box to "play with" but that to is giving me the same problem .Maybe I am not setting it to the right level, this one is connected to "AUX". These are the specs for the cartridge, any help would be greatly appreciated.

What kind of transformer? Are there taps that allow for lower gain? What kind of pre-amp?

Try running the Project II SE into the AUX pre-amp inputs. Use the MM settings on the Project II before you try the MC. When you get around to trying the MC setting on the Project II, turn down the volume on your pre-amp before playing a record.

The cartridge will amaze once you work out the set-up.

The transformer is by bent and the preamp is a mcintosh c2200
The mm setting on the project II is better but the volume is very low, I have to reach 80% volume before it sounds ok. The cartridge seems to be very good, great detail compared to the one it replaces.

Change the Project II SE setting to MC, keep it plugged into the AUX input and start with the volume turned down on your pre-amp. Work it up to a normal listening level. That should get you close.
