Anybody willing to admit?
Tim I doubt that grandpa & grandma would care for these 8 track tapes: these are mainly 60's rock genre. I'll dig them up again for TomB; probably a dozen or so tapes from The Creme & Jethro Tull era, I think there's an old Pink Floyd too....
One Box CD Player or EAD with new Chord 64
try the EAD9000 DAC so you won't lose HDCD capability. Or the Levinson if you want to get more spendy.
Anybody willing to admit?
I'll admit to finding some old 8 tracks in a boxfull of reel-to-reels but I sure had nothing to play them on (like I even *wanted* to). I was ready to pitch 'em but thought that someone somewhere might actually want them. Free for the shipping if ...
Noise, hum and AC polarity
Another good trick to know is filing. You can file down the wide prong of a polarized 2-prong plug so that both prongs are the same width & it will plug in either way. I've had to do this once...
Will new power cords by my answer?
also consider some better line conditioning than the Monster
Solid State amp with wide soundstage
I had a huge solid-state stage with a McCormack DNA-1 Deluxe driven by a Golden Tube SEP-2 pre (or SEP-3). Cables are what really made it happen though: Kharma KRC 1A silver cord on the CD, XLO Type10a on the pre, Custom Power Model 11 on the amp....
Removal of acoustic popcorn ceiling?
dunno what you mean by "popcorn ceiling" but if it helps to reduce slap echo then you'll be the worse for removing it. I had our whole living room ceiling sprayed 1" thick with cellulose insulation fiber (bleached white vs. the standard warehouse ...
Laugh but give me a clue
or try the Orion Bluebook website
What Budget turntable should I buy?
lucishow is Rek-O-Kut still around? I have an antique RekOKut TT that needs arm bearing repair or I'd be running it right now... This thing has been around since Christ was a kid though.
calling all audiophiles
Chang 9900 amp works great (for amps of course) without limiting dynamics & also contains integral surge protection; it has a 30 amp current rating & very low surge impedance. More than one of my amps sounds better plugged into the 9900 am...
Burn-in question
Dis all you need are mating connectors that plug into the CD's outputs; this could be RCA's, or XLR's if balanced outputs are used. If RCA's, just solder a low-ish load resistance (maybe 1000 ohms or so, low power resistors 1/4 watt or 1/8 watt ar...
Where can I purchase Tara cables discounted
I believe that Audio Unlimited in Denver offers deals on Tara. 303-691-3407
Can Someone Explain This?
try experimenting with different upgrade AC cords; each model will sound somewhat different. You may be able to tune the system via this approach; it usually works for me. Also play around with cones, shelving & isolation footers; all of these...
What exactly do ya do about a 15 foot run ?
Due to the fact that you are only supplying power to source components, you should be able to get away with 'less' than than if power amps were also included the circuit's demand. Experimentation is the only way to determine what will work out bes...
Is my preamp dying a slow painful death?
Possibly a failing capacitor that eventually "forms" after voltage is applied for awhile. Might be able to locate it probing with an analog ohmmeter (preamp powered off). While you're under the hood, watch those high voltage power supply electroly...
