Sonic Frontiers Power 1 good deal or foolish?
Meby if you can swing a good price it might be worth a try, because then you can probably resell reasonably. I suggest the reselling now, because when I auditioned the Power 1 I didn't at all care for it, but I did not take the time to experiment ...
Use of Ferrite Cores for EMI Reduction???
Those RF Stoppers were used on a much different rig than my present setup. I was having a lot of RFI problems from trucks on a nearby highway; I'm surprised that my amp or speakers didn't blow up when some of those clowns went by with their (non)l...
Preamp dilemma...
bhilbert check the forum archives, lots of posts on this: you may need an antenna isolation transformer or just use audio balancing isolation transformers on the audio connections. Or sometimes if you ground the sleeve of your incoming coax to hou...
Does Cary stack up to ARC
Kettle have you experimented with upgrade AC cords? If not, then you might realize sonic signature closer to desired by trying out some different cords. No two sound exactly alike & the right cord for your source component isn't necessarily th...

Use of Ferrite Cores for EMI Reduction???
be careful what you do with those ferrite clamps. I clamped 1ea. on a pair of Audioquest Lapis interconnects; they killed the highs & PRaT was all but gone. Sold the whole pack forthwith.

Wiring my house for sound

best way to figure out vta on tonearm
Sure Max I'll report back but it might be awhile. I just got the HFNRR test setup record; based upon a number of rec's that I'd read they seemed to prefer this one above others such as the Schure. Here's a link to a review of the HFNRR test record...
BMI Whale Elite vs. Electra Glide Fatman
The Shunyata's, like anything else, are system dependent. I bought two but my stock cords worked better so they were returned much to the dealer's amazement. I have found several other upgrade cords that do very well indeed so I'm not at all of th...

Strange noise after amp's off ???
A line conditioner won't resolve this but the turn-off noise is a non-issue. Switching off power at the conditioner isn't any different than at the amp, but the electronics should be left always on anyway. Lots of threads on this subject are avail...
Re amps with balanced inputs
I'm not highly experienced about this, but yes many amps are built with unbalanced topology using a balanced input line receiver or transformer & then driving the unbalanced amp. You do not get the full benefits of a fully balanced design unle...
