Amp "Hum" caused by dimmer switches
Also try an AC line conditioner - borrow one from a local dealer for audition. A Chang Lightspeed 3200 or etc. is not that expensive, cheap if bought used & resellable if no help.
Amp "Hum" caused by dimmer switches
Try installing a better quality dimmer - some of the "better" ones have RFI filtration caps. etc. so they output less radiated noise back onto the AC lines. I had this same problem for years, & didn't discover the source until that old round-k...
Cello Duet 350?
Era is asking the "general public" for opinions because (1) info. is hard to find on this product, and (2) if he simply asks the seller, then what else but "it's fantastic" would one expect to hear? I'd probably do the same thing... Certainly a va...
Golden Tube Audio
Here is another source for Golden Tube repairs that I just found out about in Peoria, Illinois: "Electronics Diversified" (309) 688-2444. Really small shop but great staff; they have a tube specialist who can fix GTA equipment. Owner's name is Don...
Cable "burning": Real or VooDoo ???
Afrk: Sorry I have no answer for you regarding DouTech. Music Direct has Mobie in stock, but insists on list price. I was able to order the Mobie from AudioNut @15% discount, but it's backordered. No big savings, but M.D. acted so snobbish on the ...
EAR Footers: Which ones, how to install?
A rubber cement such as Goodyear Pliobond might do the job, & it is easily peelable for later removal.
Dedicated power circuit
My fuses are the reg. old screw-in base 20A Buss Fusetron's. We have an antique farmhouse with old fuseboxes, so there's no inside breaker panel to even be concerned about. There is however a pair of large main cartridge fuses in that big black ph...
I need some help
Any suggestions regarding what sites are serving the car audio crowd? Have heard about some newsgroups such as "rec.car.audio"? but not all ISP's allow newsgroup access; ours doesn't.
Is there no end?
Kad are these new cables or used? Even if used, they've been idle for awhile so you still need to allow for some breakin time, but if new then you really need to cook them at high power levels for awhile before drawing any conclusions. Run them fo...
To tone control or not to tone control
My problem is now solved: this Accuphase preamp is just killer! It's so good that the featured tone controls are not even necessary most of the time. But in those cases where I do use them, in addition to bass & treble knobs I now have availab...
To tone control or not to tone control
Art I had a similar problem trying to perform Eq. using a real old Lux SS pre connected to tape loop as described above. But there's nothing wrong with this pre if I use it to drive a PA it sounds fine. Could be an impedance issue? Didn't spend al...
Please Help: High-End car audio
I've experienced some excellent results with Alpine headpiece; won 1st prize at Car Wars. This is not an all-noise rig either, very musical, loud & clean. Mix of ADS & Nakamichi speakers & crossovers; 750 watts RMS, +130dB SPL (I was n...
Dedicated power circuit
I ran my own dedicated line: three strands - the usual black, white & green (with some advice from Mike VansEvers) using #10 solid copper THHN. Line them up straight, & tape the ends all together. Put that combo into your power drill chuck...
Question about older stuff
The answer is entirely subjective, based upon your own perception of what you yourself prefer. Value-wise & considering your budget constraints, I believe that you might be better off with some older equipment, compared to the price you would...
Adding an IEC outlet to TV set
Very interesting Jay thanks for posting your results. For quite awhile I have been considering experimenting with the same idea that I had suggested to you (which you have just successfully implemented). So now I'll just go ahead & do a comple...
