WHat did Audiophiles hear during Tape deck era? I still have my Denon 3-head deck from 1991 in my system as well as my old mix tapes. It great to play back these old tapes and remember the good times from that time. It is good nostalgia.
Youngsters these days. I agree with @mkrus on this. 'OK boomer' and other terms do nothing but add to stereotypes and divide people. I'm 55 and my best friends range from 30 to 72. We share music, help each other out with tech stuff and respect each other, not to mentio...
Help: Unidentified high-pitch sound Thanks everyone for the suggestions. The Mod was my first venture into tubes so I'm new when it comes to any issues with them. I'll definitely check the tubes first.
In the middle of a pandemic, Stereophile reviews ~ $30K equipment I agree somewhat---it does seem a little insensitive. But, in my opinion, if I was out of a job, I certainly wouldn't be buying a piece of audio equipment--$500 or $30k. That's not a necessity if your jobless and need to pay bills and buy food.
How many people here generally buy used? I've bought mostly new but I've also purchased demo and open box. I've gotten some great discounts on demo models.
Best bookshelf loudspeakers under 10,000 for the pair Dynaudio Special 40s are great speakers and they just released 2 new colors.
Audio reviews: too many analogies, never simple, but most of all, never clear. I agree with @hiendmmoe on this. When I'm researching for a new piece of gear, I have a tendency to see how long is the review. I know that's stupid but that's just how I am. If it looks like its War & Peace part II, I tend to just scan it and...
Most recordings you own by a single artist, group, or composer Pet Shop Boys. Vinyl, 12" singles, imports, rarities, CDs, CD singles, laser discs, books, autographed VIP passes, signed CDs and special editions.
My Demo results: I feel like I'm at a frustrating block in my speaker journey You should try out the Dynaudio Evoke series and go up from there. The Evokes may have everything you need. I have the Special 40s and they sound incredible--so clear with plenty of bass. Hope this helps--good luck!
Giving up on Itunes! Alternatives? I want to run my hardrive with a dedicated tablet. I gave up on iTunes a few years ago and went to Spotify. Easy to use and you can use your iPhone or iPad.
End of the World system Great question! I've been thinking of something similar lately---I'm 55 and my dad passed away at 59. I'm only 4 years from that 59 and it scares me to death. I'm in the process of doing some upgrades and part of me still likes to budget---the oth...
New Yamaha integrated amps @twoch I didn't say I was definitely getting a Yamaha. I simply wanted to hear from some folks who may have had an S model since there are some really good reviews online. I'm looking at other integrateds---I would like to have one that includes H...
Audio discounts during Coronavirus Some of the dealers I know have been having some good 'demo' sales. You can get a really good discount with those if you don't mind slightly used.
DAC question, help! @b_limo LOL Great points!!! I was just wondering because I had seen other posts about DAC updates etc. Whatever int amp I end up getting, I would like to hold onto it for 10 years or so. My old Denon lasted over 2 decades. Just trying to get as mu...
DAC question, help! Thanks guys! I just worry that if I get an amp with a DAC, it will be obsolete in a year or two and not sure if want to go through the trouble for updating all the time. Some folks say stick with an all analog int amp but then I've seen so many go... |
