My Demo results: I feel like I'm at a frustrating block in my speaker journey
You should try out the Dynaudio Evoke series and go up from there. The Evokes may have everything you need. I have the Special 40s and they sound incredible--so clear with plenty of bass. Hope this helps--good luck!
Giving up on Itunes! Alternatives? I want to run my hardrive with a dedicated tablet.
I gave up on iTunes a few years ago and went to Spotify. Easy to use and you can use your iPhone or iPad.
End of the World system
Great question! I've been thinking of something similar lately---I'm 55 and my dad passed away at 59. I'm only 4 years from that 59 and it scares me to death. I'm in the process of doing some upgrades and part of me still likes to budget---the oth...
New Yamaha integrated amps
@twoch I didn't say I was definitely getting a Yamaha. I simply wanted to hear from some folks who may have had an S model since there are some really good reviews online. I'm looking at other integrateds---I would like to have one that includes H...
Audio discounts during Coronavirus
Some of the dealers I know have been having some good 'demo' sales. You can get a really good discount with those if you don't mind slightly used.
DAC question, help!
@b_limo LOL Great points!!! I was just wondering because I had seen other posts about DAC updates etc. Whatever int amp I end up getting, I would like to hold onto it for 10 years or so. My old Denon lasted over 2 decades. Just trying to get as mu...
DAC question, help!
Thanks guys! I just worry that if I get an amp with a DAC, it will be obsolete in a year or two and not sure if want to go through the trouble for updating all the time. Some folks say stick with an all analog int amp but then I've seen so many go...
New Yamaha integrated amps
@willland I'm not sure why Parasound is put down sometimes. The HINT 6 is on my list for integrateds as well. I'm looking at the Yamaha AS2200, the Parasound HINT 6 and the Luxman 505uxii. I've never had a Parasound but have always heard good thin...
New Yamaha integrated amps
Thanks for explaining the transformers---I've learned so much from you guys. As for loudness, that's one thing I like about the Luxman integrated amps. Even though loudness isn't on the unit itself, its on the remote. Do you think the new 2200 is ...
New Yamaha integrated amps
Looks like better S/N ratios as well. Yamaha says they have improved the wiring and feet for better vibration absorption. Question: will changing transformers increase power output? I have 6 ohm speakers and according to the specs, for 6 ohms its ...
When Did Your System Disappear?
Last week, actually. I was sitting in my chair flipping through an audio magazine while the music was playing. Then the vocal came on and I literally jumped and looked up because it was as if the singer was standing 5 feet from me. It was quite su...
audiophiles who are just getting the itch to upgrade
@millercarbon Thanks!!
audiophiles who are just getting the itch to upgrade
I'm looking to going back to an integrated amp---tired of separates. Staying at home has given me time to do some research. So far I've narrowed it down to the Yamaha A-S2100 and the Luxman 505uxii. Maybe the McIntosh MA5300? But the Yamaha looks ...
How will the COVID-19 pandemic affect sites like Audiogon?
The store I visit and purchase from is about 90 miles from my house and they are only doing appt only visits. I'm looking to upgrade my amp but I'm going to wait until this is over. It's not worth the risk right now. I've called them to check in a...
Klipsch Heresy 4?
@t_ramey Thanks for posting that---I watched his review yesterday. I follow him and he's quite good. I'm dying to hear these speakers!!
