Floor standing or Large bookshelf recommendations - 2.0 channel setup I agree with the Dynaudio suggestion regarding Crutchfield---you can audition them and return them if you want. They're super customer friendly. You may also want to look at Tekton speakers. You get a lot of speaker for the money.
Constant noisy tubes maybe go solid state? I went back to SS. I had SS for many, many years and decided to try tubes. Too much noise so back to the SS gear. Been there, done that.
Amplifier upgrade advice under $2000 The new Yamaha integrated amps are nice---the 2100 has lots of good reviews. Or maybe a slightly used Parasound HINT 6.
Your favorite 'concept' album ELO - Time from 1981.
Have you changed your mind about a brand? Was it you, or them? Not a fan of NAD. Had an integrated and found it to be quite blah. On the other hand, I have found that Tekton speakers are a good as other have said. Absolutely love them.
Versatile, non-fatiguing speakers for a small room under $1500 used or new: advice needed! I would definitely check out the new KEF LS50 Meta---great reviews so far. They come in some cool colors too. Elac makes a variety of speakers in your price range as well. Good luck and keep us posted.
Luxman 505uXlI vs Cary SLI-100 I agree with a few others here---Luxman and Klipsch. I have the 505uxii paired with some Tekton Lore References. You can't go wrong with Luxman. Keep us posted.
Streaming for beginner I have a CD player/streamer (all in one) which connects to my WiFi. I play Spotify through my iPhone and it sounds awesome. I tried Bluetooth in the past and didn't like the flat sound. It was a very easy setup and I'm not a very technical person ...
Charging A Fee To Demo An Amplifier In A Brick & Mortar Store Never heard of that before----sounds like a scam to me.
Let's be a little meta: What topics are most hotly debated? Bass? Hmmm, I thought sure it would be either McIntosh products or cables.
Think fast: What would you take? I would try to get the irreplaceable/important items (family heirlooms, personal financial items for identity purposes, etc) rather than things that can be replaced by insurance. So sorry you're having to go through this. This year is definitely o...
Are all Audiophiles masocists? I think we all do this with other parts of our lives: we have a good job, we think of better jobs. We have a nice car, we think of getting a better car. We have a nice house, we want a bigger house, and so on. I'm perfectly happy with my little sy...

ls FM radio even listenable any more? The only time I listen to the radio is in my car. I haven't had a tuner since the early 90s.
Integrated brand choice -- Simaudio, Hegel or Mark Levinson? Agree with a few other on here regarding the Luxman. I bought my first Luxman integrated amp earlier this year and its by far the best amp I've ever owned. You should definitely consider a 507UXii. |
