Integrated Amp $1200 or less
Marantz PM8006 is very nice.
Affordable US Made Tube Pre/Power or Integrated Options
Check out Belles Aria integrated----I've only seen great reviews for this piece. Good luck!
Loudness - Why has the industry stopped producing amplifiers with this feature any longer?
I had a Denon integrated amp many years ago with a loudness button---loved it at lower volumes. I'm looking into getting a new integrated soon and the Luxman integrated is my #1 choice since they still have a loudness button. I wish the new Yamaha...
How Do You Live The Audiophile Life
I'm not a typical audiophile---I don't listen to jazz I'm not super detailed on specs. I listen to mostly electronic music and classic rock/pop/alternative. So I can educate myself. I try to go to as many audio stores (not Best Buy) as I can. Try ...
Unbelievable
Yamaha has the same piano black finish on the sides their integrated amps---does that do anything to improve the sound?
Low volume listening dynamics
I plan on getting a new Luxman integrated amp soon and one of the things I like about the Luxman is that it has a loudness button on the remote. My old Denon integrated amp from the 80s had a loudness button as well. Not sure why newer amps don't ...
WHat did Audiophiles hear during Tape deck era?
I still have my Denon 3-head deck from 1991 in my system as well as my old mix tapes. It great to play back these old tapes and remember the good times from that time. It is good nostalgia.
Youngsters these days.
I agree with @mkrus on this. 'OK boomer' and other terms do nothing but add to stereotypes and divide people. I'm 55 and my best friends range from 30 to 72. We share music, help each other out with tech stuff and respect each other, not to mentio...
Help: Unidentified high-pitch sound
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. The Mod was my first venture into tubes so I'm new when it comes to any issues with them. I'll definitely check the tubes first.
In the middle of a pandemic, Stereophile reviews ~ $30K equipment
I agree somewhat---it does seem a little insensitive. But, in my opinion, if I was out of a job, I certainly wouldn't be buying a piece of audio equipment--$500 or $30k. That's not a necessity if your jobless and need to pay bills and buy food.
How many people here generally buy used?
I've bought mostly new but I've also purchased demo and open box. I've gotten some great discounts on demo models.
Best bookshelf loudspeakers under 10,000 for the pair
Dynaudio Special 40s are great speakers and they just released 2 new colors.
Audio reviews: too many analogies, never simple, but most of all, never clear.
I agree with @hiendmmoe on this. When I'm researching for a new piece of gear, I have a tendency to see how long is the review. I know that's stupid but that's just how I am. If it looks like its War & Peace part II, I tend to just scan it and...
