High Performance Audio - The End?
My modest little system sounds really good to me and my friends. I listen to a wide range of music ranging from Kraftwerk to Led Zeppelin to Ella to house music. Current electronic music (like Yello, Brendon Moeller) sound so crisp and clear while...
Outstanding service from MusicDirect in the USA and Avid Hifi in the UK, read on please!
I agree---I've purchased from Music Direct and their customer service is excellent. I've bought equipment and vinyl. Highly recommended.
Crutchfield's Speaker Compare
At least they're trying. Things are tough for brick and mortars now not to mention small towns and then put COVID in the mix. Hey, whatever helps folks, go for it.
Recommend speakers for Hegel H190
Look at Dynaudio---quite a few posts on here and elsewhere regarding their synergy with Hegel. I have the Special 40s and they are great speakers ($3000/pr).
Cheap/expensive or expensive/cheap?
I didn't mean to annoy anyone with this question. Seems like there's always one person who gets offended or annoyed with something on these forums. I realize the question is very broad and general but I didn't want to get into the minutiae of spec...
Cheap/expensive or expensive/cheap?
Excellent points on the comments here---I used standard stock cables on most of my equipment years ago and started using higher quality cables/cords over the past few years. I (as well as my non-audiophile friends) heard a noticeable difference on...
All New Pure Audio ONE Integrated Amp Reviewed!
Having to push the source button every time you turn it on and the back panel don't work for me. I'm surprised they weren't able to do something about that?? It's not very attractive either. I'll pass.
What do/did you do for a living?

Beryllium Tweets
I'm looking at trying the Tekton Lore speakers but can't decide if I should get the BE for an extra $300. Is it worth it?
Anyone remember the lateral tracking Bang and Olufsen record player from the 80’s??
So funny how this topic came up when I was just talking to a friend yesterday about the Beogram RX TT that I still have. I bought the Beogram in 1985 and it still works fine---I have a MMC3 cartridge on it. About a year ago, I did a system upgrade...
Budget streaming amp
I had the NAD with BluOS. I didn't care for it at all. It was very sensitive to phone location plus it just didn't sound good with Bluetooth. I went with the Marantz ND8006 CD/network streamer (via WiFi) for $1200. Sounds wonderful!
Just received my new Luxman CL-1000 pre-amp.
Yay! Congrats on the new Luxman! I'm new to Luxman as well---just purchased my first piece. I shopped around and did my research and got a L505uxii integrated amp. Wow! The music sounds so fluid and natural. Even my husband (who's not an audiophil...
Looking for closed back headphone advice
As for my amp, I have a Luxman 505uxii integrated amp. I saw the Sony headphones mentioned below and they look interesting as well as the Beyerdynamic. I'm not very well versed on headphone specs and amps so I appreciate the input. Would the Sony ...
Looking for closed back headphone advice
Thanks for the recommendations---I like the flexibility of the closed backs in case I need to travel with them. So far, I've been looking at Focal, Sony, Shure, Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic, Dan Clark Audio, Denon, Master Dynamic and a few more. I kee...
Switch from AB to D
I just recently traded in a high quality class D amp and went back to a class A/B integrated and there is a difference in sound. I enjoyed the class D but the A/B sounds more musical to me. Even my husband, who is not an audiophile, believes the A...
