Best 80s New Wave
I had tickets to see Pet Shop Boys/New Order on the Unity Tour in September in DC but of course it was rescheduled until 2021. I had a chance to see NO back around '87-88 on one of the first Lollapalooza tours. Siouxsie and the Banshees and Psyche...

@audio2design You're correct about DM's Violator---it was released in 1990. My bad. :)
High end Class D amps?
@noble100 Thanks for the suggestions----I've heard good things about D-Sonic. What preamp(s) have you used with the D-Sonics? I'm not really a tube person--I prefer SS. I've never had mono blocks so that's something I need to check out too.
High end Class D amps?
@flatblackround Thank you---good to know. Do your VU meters on the McIntosh integrated still work with the class D amp connected? Sorry for the stupid question. LOL
High end Class D amps?
@flatblackround Very interesting---I wondered about something like that. Using a high end integrated like a McIntosh or Luxman as the preamp and using a class D power amp. Like using an Accuphase integrated with a Bel Canto amp for more juice? Wil...
Luxman integrated for Harbeth Compact 7's
Great conversation---I have the Luxman 505UXii and I'm considering the C7 XDs. Do you all think this would be a good combo?
B-sides?
While not in the classic rock genre, the Pet Shop Boys have a vast amount of B-sides and are quite famous for the 'quality' of their B-sides. In fact, they have released 2 double CD sets of B-sides (Alternative and Format) dating back the the mid-...
I've been dragged to recommendations, kicking and screaming
I have Spotify Premium and listen to a large variety of music. So every few days or so, I get updates in Release Radar and Discover Weekly. I've gotten to know so much new music as well as new releases from artists I love. It's a lot of fun.
Floor standing or Large bookshelf recommendations - 2.0 channel setup
I agree with the Dynaudio suggestion regarding Crutchfield---you can audition them and return them if you want. They're super customer friendly. You may also want to look at Tekton speakers. You get a lot of speaker for the money.
Constant noisy tubes maybe go solid state?
I went back to SS. I had SS for many, many years and decided to try tubes. Too much noise so back to the SS gear. Been there, done that.
Amplifier upgrade advice under $2000
The new Yamaha integrated amps are nice---the 2100 has lots of good reviews. Or maybe a slightly used Parasound HINT 6.
Your favorite 'concept' album
ELO - Time from 1981.
Have you changed your mind about a brand? Was it you, or them?
Not a fan of NAD. Had an integrated and found it to be quite blah. On the other hand, I have found that Tekton speakers are a good as other have said. Absolutely love them.
Versatile, non-fatiguing speakers for a small room under $1500 used or new: advice needed!
I would definitely check out the new KEF LS50 Meta---great reviews so far. They come in some cool colors too. Elac makes a variety of speakers in your price range as well. Good luck and keep us posted.
Luxman 505uXlI vs Cary SLI-100
I agree with a few others here---Luxman and Klipsch. I have the 505uxii paired with some Tekton Lore References. You can't go wrong with Luxman. Keep us posted.
