car stereo automobile sound system
I recommend using a separate DAC. I have a SONY CD changer with digital output. The DAC is a Theta Pro Basic IIIA preceeded by 10 jitter filters. Speakers are Dynaudio which are tri-amped.
Good battery powered Toslink optical DAC needed
California Audio Labs Gamma will work on 12 volts. I used to have it installed in my car stereo.
Blue Light Lasers???
The audio specifications have not been finalized. There are two competing formats Blu ray and DVD HD. DVD players will be available later this year. Due to the increased capacity of the blue laser, HD video and high res multi-cahnnel audio will be...
Does this DAC exist?
I dont know of any dac with 2 toslink inputs. You could purchase a Monarchy DIP or Theta TLC to convert toslink to RCA or AES/EBU.
best / worst album cover
King Crimson's first album certainly meets the description.
car speakers?
Go Dynaudio! I had Boston Acoustics and IMHO their tweeter was very harsh. Dynaudio uses a soft dome and is very smooth. As my car stereo has improved (Theta Basic IIIA, 9 jitter filters...) the Dynaudios have never been the weakest link. They are...
Sunfire: Holographic Imaging Opinions
I have used it since Bob Carver invented it (>15 years ago). I always leave it on. It spreads the soundstage from corner to corner in my room. It produces real images and ambience far outside the speakers. The only downside it that you muse sit...
digital cable for theta front end
Because the sound gets better and better! Each filter has added more soundstage depth, solid bass and clearer highs. On well recorded CDs cymbals really sound like cymbals. Bells are delicate and airy...
digital cable for theta front end
I also have a Pro Basic IIIA preceeded by 9 jitter filters. I use hard wired Illuminati Ohm-Aha 75 ohm cable for all my digital connections. If you are not interested in that approach, I would still recommend changing the RCA connectors to 75 ohm ...
Classic Rock Listener - Help me build my system
I love Cardas cables and have used several of their models. However, the quadlink IMHO is inferior to the lower cost Crosslink. It noticeably rolls off the highs. Try neutral reference for a much more open sound.
Processor Bandwidth necessary for HDTV
I would recommend that you post this question in the HDTV Hardware section of the AVSFORUM.COM
Believe it or not, an A.M. radio question
You should try a GE Super Radio III ($50). These portables have a great tuner compared to most which are junk.
Purist Audio & Stereophile
I am sick of Sam Tellig raving about every Musical Fidelity product.
Best digital cable below $500
Illuminati Ohm-Aha! $7.00. This mini 75 ohm coax available from partsconnexion.com is awesome. Solder it directly to each circuit board and you will be amazed at the sound of your digital components. You get 2 8" cables plus 5" of Wonder Solder. I...
Dual Theta TLCs: Best Cabling?
In my system I am forced to use the Toslink in. However, I do have five TLCs in series followed by a Monarchy DIP and then an Ultra Jitterbug. I first modded my TLCs by using 75 ohm BNC connectors in and out which was a significant improvement. I ...
