Best RCA female output connector.....a CD player ?
I recently replaced most of my RCA females with Vampire Wire copper based connectors. I bought these and DH Labs solid core silver wire from the partsconnexion.com. This was a significant upgrade in clarity and produces rock solid images. Highly r...
spitty sound coming from right speaker.
Sounds like a blown tweeter. Connect the left speaker cable over to the right speaker. If it is still distorted it is the speaker.
Has anyone heard of this "Black Box"
Yes, the magazine Audiophile Voice reviewed it and liked it. Back issues are available at audiophilevoice.com.
Digital Dilemma...
You need a little TLC... Theta Digital makes a jitter filter (TLC) which will convert your Toslink to an RCA and improve the sound remarkably. Your MSB probably has multiple digital inputs. I use six TLCs in series with spectacular results. TLCs a...
Recommendations for a nice direct view set
The Toshiba 36HFX72 was recently selected as product of the year by The Perfect Vision. It has more features than SONY and costs less. Highly recommended.
Standard Def Reception on an HDTV set
I own a 36" Toshiba HFX-71. The 36HFX72 was selected by Perfect Vision as product of the year. It has an excellent built-in line doubler. The picture on digtal cable channels is excellent with few visible scanning lines. To really enjoy HDTV you w...
Jethro Tull recent Remasters vs Mobile Fidelity?
Yes, the remasters are much better. They are much clearer than the Mobile Fidelity although you will hear the inherent distortion in the recording. Some of the bonus tracks are well known, mostly from Living in the Past. By the way, IMHO the Pink ...
Cal Audio CL-10 and Theta GenVa - - - TLC?
I have a total of 6 Theta TLCs in two different systems. In one system I have four in series followed by a Monarchy DIP and then an Assemblage UJB-1. The DAC I am using in that system is a Theta Pro Basic IIIA. I would recommend that you do not sk...
Can TosLink ever equal Coax digital?
I am using the new Wireworld glass Toslink and it is clearly the best I have tried so far. It was clearer than my previous favorite, Optichord from Chord (UK) and IMHO much better than Monster, Kimber, SONY... I also saw an ad here for a new Nordo...
Will I be a jaw dropping Wow for an upgraded CDP?
You could get another Walkman (or home CD player) with digital output and buy a used Theta DAC. A Theta Chroma could be purchased for about $400. When you have more funds you could add on jitter filters such as; a Theta TLC or Monarchy DIP, and be...
Does anyone prefer Toslink, with DAC?
I am using a CD changer with Toslink out. I recently purchased a Wireworld glass Toslink canle which is excellent. To reduce jitter from the Toslink I send it through five jitter filters; 3 Theta TLCs, a DIP and an Ultrajitterbug. Try several Tosl...
34-36" HDTV
I have the 36" Toshiba HDTV. I would definitely recommend the Toshiba. The RCA is an old design and has no built in line doubler. There is a great review on the 34" Toshiba in this months The Perfect Vision.
Any thoughts or experiences with DH Labs cables
I use their digital cables; D-75 and D-110. Gary Galo from Audio Amatuer thinks the D-110 is the best sounding 110 ohm cable he has ever used. They are a good value and highly recommended!
portable cd with digital out?
I have used several SONY models with digital output. Sony now uses a miniplug optical connector. Optical cables with miniplug on one end and Toslink on the other are avaialable at Best Buy. Be sure to use several jitter filters such as the Theta T...
anyone else daisy chain "jitterboxes"?
Multiple jitter boxes work great and are highly recommended! I was using 75 ohm BNCs and cable between them. Then I removed all of the BNC connectors and hard wired Illuminati Ohm-Aha 75 ohm cable between the TLCs and DIP. This was another great i...
