What's up with Theta's Gen. 8 D/A ?
I was told by Theta that the projected retail price for the Gen VIII is 8-10K.
Rock albums that sound good on your system?
Try Neil Young Comes a Time and Al Stewart's Year of the Cat. Both have excellence sonics.
Theta Gen VIII - primed to jump 4 years ahead
I have three models of Theta DACs and three of their TLC jitter filters. They all are excellent products. The Gen VIII, however is out of my price range. It has a projected price of between 8 and 10K.
The best POT you ever had
I am currently using an Alps Black Beauty which works great. It is much better sounding and higher quality than a Noble pot I was using. Someday I might upgrade to a Penny & Giles pot, but their cheapest pot is $250.
Outboard Processor Question?
The CAL Gamma is a very musical DAC for the money. I used one with great results. If you could stretch your budget, a Theta Digital Cobalt is a big upgrade over the Gamma. A Theta TLC and/or a Monarchy DIP along with true 75 ohm digital cables wil...
Any audio gifts for Christmas?

Need interconnect suggestions for Meridian 508.24
Try Neutral Reference. IMHO it is far superior to Cardas Cross. Much clearer with more detail.
Japanese remastered CDs - Steely Dan in particular
I recently purchased some Pink Floyd Japanese import CDs in the mini-LP format. They were the same remastered versions done by Doug Sax seven years ago. The sound was almost identical to the EMI remaster. However, I do like the mini-LP format.
Cables that make no sense...
IMHO Gthrush1 is correct in his praise of the Cardas Crosslink. It is much better than the overly hyped Kimber PBJ for the same price. However, the Cardas Neutral Reference is worth the extra money. It lets more of the music through. The only inte...
Roger Waters...
I have this CD in a Sony SBM version. It is much clearer and less harsh than the standard CD.

What does "jitter" sound like????
Jitter is easier to hear when it is removed. I use several systems with separate DACs. Each system was vastly improved by using true 75 ohm cables and connectors. IMHO jitter boxes are a must for digital separates. In one of my systems I have two ...
What are the differences between TV Sony XBR400 and 450?
The XBR450 has 2:3 pulldown which the XBR400 and HS20 do not have. This is suppose to provide fewer artifacts and cleaner pictures with NTSC sources (The Perfect Vision July/August).
Toslink Cable Upgrade?
I have tried three different Toslink cables; Kimber. Monster Lightspeed 100 and Optichord (UK). I purchased the Optichord after reading a review in What Hi-Fi magazine. IMHO the Optichord is the clear winner. The music is smooth, full and clear. S...
Why are optical cables jitter prone?
In my system I am forced to use Toslink. I am currently using the Chord Optichord from the UK. IMHO it is much smoother and clearer than the Monster or Kimber optical cables. A new optical cable from Van den Hul has also received some good reviews...
