Connecting External DAC's and Pre-Amps to Hegel Integrated Amplifiers?
@bassdude  Giving this some more thought, if you are using an external DAC, the output from that device comes out as an analogue signal, using an RCA or XLR cable.  Using the appropriate input, you will be bypassing Hegel's internal DAC.  If you h...
Connecting External DAC's and Pre-Amps to Hegel Integrated Amplifiers?
I owned the H590, but can't remember the connections.  My simple answer is you should be able to do everything you want.  Fire off an email with your questions directly to Hegel.  They are quick to respond and will give you the correct advice.  Ch...
Directional wires/cables
@billpete  In the end, the correct answer is to try your cable both ways.  The way that sounds best to YOUR ears, is the correct direction.  Regardless of how the cables are marked.  Everything else is meaningless.
Directional wires/cables
@jeffbij  Would OCC cable not render the directional question moot, as most cable lengths we use would, in theory anyway, be one single elongated grain?
How often to you clean vinyl and the needle?
I use an ultrasonic cleaner when I first receive an LP. Records are stored in proper anti static sleeves and album jacked is stored in proper sleeve as well. I never touch the surface of a Record with anything. Furutech anti static device. Common ...
SHIPPING speakers?
IMHO, this is the only way to ship speakers.  $100 worth of material.  Piece of mind, priceless.  If the speakers are worth this effort..........   Cheers
Do you prefer tall speakers
I'll take tall speakers over close talkers any day.

Room Treatments and Orientation for Unfinished Basement Listening?
Here's a rather long read but worth it.  Lots of information and links to sound rooms.   https://digistar.cl/Forum/viewtopic.php?t=557 This calculator for room dimensions is very good.  https://www.acoustic.ua/forms/rr.en.html    Cheers.
got my PayPal 1099 /// what now?
I should think you can simply enter any numbers that make sense to you on your return.  Proof will only be an issue in the event of an audit.  I suspect the chance of an audit for the sale of some audio equipment is slim to nil, and slim doesn't l...
Beware - FedEx Drivers are forging signatures for delivery confirmation
This has been the standard practice with FedEx for as long as I have known them.  I can't remember the driver even knocking on my door or ringing the bell.  They drop (literally) the package on my door step, take a picture and drive away.  The pic...
Replace tubes yearly?
Aside from tubes, Paul's suggestion to keep your equipment powered up 24/7, is contradicted by many manufacturers.  I know this issue divides members into two camps.  My own amp manufacturer recommends turning off when not in use.  Claims the soft...
Is it easier to sell mono blocks or stereo amp on the used market?
I might ask how committed you are to the decision of buying the new amps, if your first concern is how easy will they be to sell.  I say buy what you think you will enjoy the most right now.  Who knows, you may have them for 10 years and the resal...
Would I be wasting my money to get a turntable?
@mahler123  "You’ve self identified as one who places significant value on the aesthetics of vinyl, which renders sound quality issues as secondary " Excuse me if I find that statement somewhat condescending.  And you are not the first member on ...
Would I be wasting my money to get a turntable?
@grislybutter  I can say with some authority, that a golfers constant upgrading of equipment is not unlike this hobby.  The endless pursuit of the smallest improvement.  And the honeymoon period with a new club is much like the confirmation bias w...
