Looking for the next level in imaging... @mahgister I understand your love and dedication to acoustic principals. It makes up the heart of most of your posts. Your comment : Than this sentence is not even wrong and like describing the realitty in reverse order like if walking on...
Looking for the next level in imaging... @jhnnrrs Something else we have in common. Love of ESLs. I've owned Martin logan in the past. Kept them for 20 years. Now running a set of SoundLab Majestic 745s. Coming back to my main point, a speaker can't produce anything that is not emb...
Looking for the next level in imaging... My Opus 3, Test Record 1 - Depth of Image, assists in speaker placement for greatest effect. The 16 tracks describe what you should be hearing and where. It's amazing (to me) how deep and wide the soundstage can be. Then I am disappointed at th...
Music first or sound first? Last night I happened to listen to Street Corner Talking, and Sticky Fingers. Street Corner was wonderfully recorded, given it was 53 years ago, and totally engaging still. Sticky Fingers, while being one of the top 3 Stones recordings (IMHO) is...
Should we care if a piece of equipment comes from a pet-free, kid-free, smoke-free home? And don't forget "only used on Sunday after returning from church" 🤣
I need a extension cord with @curiousjim Get yourself over to Home Depot and buy a quad outlet box, a couple good outlets, a few feet of 10 awg wire and a 20 amp plug. If you're worried about a metal top plate sucking the sound out of the music, buy a plastic one. The who...
No discussion about the Synergistic Pink fuse? @dekay Window Pane.
Your thoughts on best audiophile speakers in $10,000 neighborhood? @aphilc If you're willing to buy used, then your question becomes what are the best speakers in the $20,000 range. At 3 - 5 years of light use, speakers are selling at +/- 50% of the original price. Buy used and make your dollars go further. IMHO
How Is This Possible? Must be Counterfeits @jmalen123 Totally agree re build your own. I think my next power cables will be DIY with parts from VH Audio. https://www.vhaudio.com/neotech-nep-3200.html I built my speaker cables with their CHeLA wire. I'd put them up against cables cos...
How Is This Possible? Must be Counterfeits @roxy54 Counterfeit Chinese Cables. Gone..... but not forgotten. I'm thinking we should start another thread by the same name, but this time the subject will be "are the people making the cables actually Chinese, or Counterfeit Chinese" Should ...
How Is This Possible? Must be Counterfeits @ronkent And therein lies the $64,000 Dollar Question. It's become a big crap-shoot when buying any used cables these days. The short answer would be just don't. Otherwise Let common sense prevail. Insist on the original invoice for the manuf...
How Is This Possible? Must be Counterfeits @ronkent Before we start yet another thread on this topic, check out this thread that is up to 19 pages of comments and still going. Everything that can be said, has been said. Cheers. https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/counterfeit-chines...
A GOOD dry record cleaning device @jasonbourne71 Sounds like the roller I used to get lint on my suit. Put it under the tap and the lint washed right off. https://www.amazon.ca/bluederst-Reusable-Washable-Cleaning-Remover/dp/B07WWFNBBW
A GOOD dry record cleaning device I don't believe you should ever touch the surface of an LP with anything. I use an ultrasonic cleaner to get everything out of the grooves. Why would you ever use a brush or cloth that could push stuff back into the grooves? Defies logic IMHO.
I don't get it...Exile on main Street-Blue Musicians rating LPs is very much like film critics rating movies? They often relate to things on a different level than the general public. Just go to Rotten Tomatoes and see how often the "Critics" will rate a film 90 - 100 and the general pub... |
