Buying used audio equipment in peron in Canada
To  be totally prepared, make sure you have a County of Origin Certificate, and a bill of sale.  You may pay a small duty but hey, you just got $1.47 CDN for your US $1.00.  🤣
Rays Tubes
@rivinyl   Ray Tubes are manufactured by Psvane in China.  From Ray: We partner with various contract manufacturers to produce our tubes. In the case of the RESERVE KT88 tubes, it's indeed PSVANE that's handling production for us. While our KT88 ...
Turntables currently considered top of the range. Do you know what they are ?
@dwette  Please take a few minutes to build your virtual system.  I'd love to see it.  Cheers.

So let's keep it in Pounds Sterling https://www.whathifi.com/features/10-worlds-most-expensive-turntables
Rule of thumb for used digital componants?
When you say retail, are you talking about MSRP, or are you talking about the price we really pay for new gear?  60% of MSRP may be closer to 75% of what the seller actually paid new, and be far too much to offer for used?
Anybody having trouble getting near-your-asking-price for used gear ? (Plz. no hype)
"I recently sold a Bryston BR-20 brand new in the box and it took me 7 months to get 48% of MSRP" IMHO, the first issue is using the term "MSRP". I don't think anyone pays full retail for anything.  I doubt any of us pay more than 80% of MSRP for...
Best Exercise To Improve Capability Of Handling Heavy Amps
@skids  An Excellent Answer.  We will spend $20K on an amp, and balk at spending $200 on a piece of equipment to move it around?  I recently drywalled a basement.  Paid $250 for a drywall lift from Amazon.  If I never use it again, it was still wo...
My Gray Experience
Just last week I was looking at an Esoteric E-02 phono preamp.  Brand new as advertised on HiFi Shark.  The vendor ships direct from Japan.  All equipment is brand new and sealed in the original box from the manufacturer.  30% less than anywhere e...
Is there usually a dramatic difference between $5k and $10k cartridges ?
$5000 difference is pretty dramatic to me.  🤣
Do you agree with John Atkinson (and me)?
@bdp24  A different approach to this question might be to ask, why do you still collect/purchase physical mediums in the age of streaming?  I have not yet added streaming to my system.  Partly because of the cost of components that would match the...
Piano high notes very bright
I would agree with eric_squires on the room comment.  When researching what room dimensions work best for music, the subject of sound waves either cancelling each other out, or conversely, amplifying certain frequencies came up.  I'm probably not ...
PLUG AMPLIFIER INTO POWER CONDITIONER OR INTO WALL RECEPTACLE
As there are only two choices, the obvious correct answer would appear to be, try both and see if you hear a difference.  IMHO, the opinions of other members, including mine, have little or no value in these situations.  Your system, your ears, yo...
Do you agree with John Atkinson (and me)?
I still have a lot of vinyl going back to the 70's, and it's in great condition. I don't have any of the equipment from that time.  One thing the OP comments on is the "listen to the system vs the music".  Sorry, but this has always been a word sa...
I often notice that people who have open reel decks and/or tube equipment are nicest
Throw out the hardware Let's do it right
Should speakers be upgraded before preamp and amplifiers?
@daveoman  Could I suggest you start with your room.  The dimensions you have stated do not produce good results from a couple of acoustic calculators I use.  They say the room is half the equation to a great system.  Just a thought.  Cheers.
