Would you Upgrade? You have to know what makes sound good. If you don't understand what component in your system makes the sound they way it is, you basically are just trading one type of sound for another. Brightness comes more from your components than the speak...
Takedown of pricey servers, streamers OCD HiFi guy Interesting comments from each of you. I do not stream still spinning CDs. My buddy just purchased the Rockna (looking forward to hearing it). I have also heard an older MSB at his home that was upgraded to the newest software. It was like a $...
If you hopped into your time machine and brought back audio gear- what would it be? @jshulerjr48 you can do that today!Simple ask, simple response - another Lafayette KT-550 power amp as a back-up. This beast of an amplifier crushes almost anything out here today. Other than that gas, home and car prices!Happy Listening.
Upgrading phono stage IMO I would use that money to upgrade the current product with the phono stage. Simple upgrade with be caps, resistors and adding an AC filter choke.Happy Listening.
Best sounding resistors You can see the components I build on my system page. From my eperience:Amtrans are very niceCaddock - OK not my preference although used to be at one timeRiken good for the moneyTakman good carbon is musicalTakman - not a fan of metal resistorsVis...
DAC replacement?? Also looking for passionate tube tech you can message me or see the components I build on my system page here. I am in New Jersey so you would need to ship.
Single driver speakers. Are they worth considering ? Only if they are field coil design
“Black background” — What really contributes to this phenomenon? @redwoodaudio google ac filter chokes - many audio manufacturers use them - in the old days Counterpoint used them. Hammond makes them and so does Plitron. In some equipment you can install a choke where the AC lines come into a unit, etc.Peter
Pierre Lurne - Audiomeca Try Mike Fremer also.
Pierre Lurne - Audiomeca @mikleon1 - I have not been able to reach him for some time now. I will try again and I I reach him, I will let you know.Peter
“Black background” — What really contributes to this phenomenon? Filtering the AC noise is what will provide a black background. You can do this with adding an AC filter choke to most components.Happy Listening
If Cables Are Not Tone Controls... That is why I use capacitors, AC filtration and resistors to tailor the sound in my components. To me this makes cables less significant plus much cheaper also!
Wow, $10k+ cables Easier to change the capacitors and resistors than a power cable. Plus when you change a component the sound you dialed in works in your system rather than finding another power cable that works when you change components - plus a lot cheaper!Hap...
Looking for a tube Preamp new or used for under $2000... Although all the recommendations are good recommendations, the difference as already pointed out is they are different but not better. The reason why is that the designs are similar and changes are because of the tubes used, the caps and resistor...
A stupid question for which there's no sensible answer. You are going to get so many answers your head will spin. My advise is to first know what type of sound you prefer. Second is to know why a product/component makes that sound that you prefer. SS to tube for starters. Then understand what compa... |
