Integrated amp recommendations for harbeth 30.2 XD
rogue audio cronus magnum iii. best sounding amp in its price zone. you get it all, open tramsparency, refinement, power and impact. so good it is a no brainer with these Harbeths. mMy local dealer uses this amp to demo Harbeths and it sounds g...
AGD Audion GaN Class D In The House
I heard the AGD Audion amps at the audio show in Tampa Florida and they were my favorite room paired with Ocean Way stand mount speakers. I almost took a pair home to try. I'd still like to hear them in my own house. I'm jealous OP. As far as othe...
Step Up/Down Transformers - what to look for & where?
You don't need one for your laptop or iPad, they're universal voltage. When I moved from the US to Europe I sent my equipment I wanted to keep to the manufacturer to convert it to 240 volts and sold what i didn't. I don't know if sound quality wil...
Amplifier brand/designer with the most unique and consistent “house sound?”
I agree with Ayre. Doesn't Pass have slightly different sound signatures depending on the line? I've read the XA-25 is different from the XA-30.8 which is different from the X150.8 which is different from the X250.8. I found the x150.8 (the only P...
To Roon or not to Roon?
Roon support is horrible if you have issues.  For $120/year they need a support solution. Mahler123 has put it well. You don't need it but if you want that type of organization, it could work.  I'm an annual subscriber and didn't do lifetime due t...
Need preamp suggestion
Used Ayre K-5xeMP for about your $2k budget. Balanced, open, HT pass through if needed, just outstanding for any price.
Streamer wanted
I've compared a high end streamer to an old Macbook Pro with 3 different DACs.  One DAC sounded better with the high end streamer, another DAC sounded better on the Macbook while the 3rd DAC seemed to not care which streamer was used, they both so...
Salk Sound vs Legacy Audio
I don't think the Salk's are overly detailed.I really need to hear Salks in another system then.  I bought them after never hearing a pair and think they're very detailed, depending on the electronics of course. I'm pretty sure Jim thinks I'm craz...
Salk Sound vs Legacy Audio
I have the Salks you are speaking of but never heard Legacy speakers. They are very revealing speakers so it's the amp, preamp and source that give you the signature.  I know that's commonly said but I've owned I don't know how many speakers in my...
Schumann Resonator
Some interesting explanations on how it works without a speaker:  http://www.kellyresearchtech.com/elf.html
Schumann Resonator
I read through that.  It's where I got the above quote. No good answers but I found the DIY forum post I'm going to read through while listening to this awesome Billy Strings concert at the Cap Theater. Highly recommend for any jam/folk/bluegrass ...
Schumann Resonator
And I'm not against things like this at all. I just want to know how they work.  This thing looks great and I'd love to try it were it not for the large price tag: https://www.audiogon.com/listings/lisa8143-highend-novum-pmr-premium-mk-ii-room-aco...
Schumann Resonator
This was a quote in 2019 from a formerly active poster who loves tweaks...to say the least:To make things even more confusing the full 7.8 Hz signal from the Schumann CD can be put into the room by tiny computer speakers. So if that's the case wha...
Schumann Resonator
bhvf,I don’t think the mobile devices or a speaker can produce the frequency needed. But, good question about Qoboz.ozzySo this thing sold on Amazon produces the frequency by physical moving parts rather than electronically through a speaker? I don...
Schumann Resonator
Thank you, @ozzy. That was the most helpful comment.  Why can't the "sound" be reproduced by an iPhone app or streamed from Qobuz? What do these standalone generators do that something with a speaker can't?
