What has been your costliest mistake in this hobby?
Just bough 5 pair, (yes 5) of Quad ESL 57s in solid cosmetic condition but with various needs. Not sure what I got myself into but I know for certain the $$ faucet will be wide open on these. Sending them up to the “Quad guy” in NH for the breakdo...

Joe Jackson, “Big World” - borrowed a friends Planar 3 with Grado Reference Platinum Cart. Plays wonderfully and the Rega/Grado pairing is magic

@uberwaltz sure Dale Consalvi/Bozzio from right here in lovely Somerville, MA. Used to play around down at the clubs on Lansdowne Street before MP had some hits. Fun band and her out front didn’t hurt, pretty tasty

@slaw Aerosmith “Rocks” is, in my humble opinion, their defining album. Just so heavy & powerful. Heroin had taken the wheel and was clearly driving the bus at this point; amazing! Rory Gallagher, “Tatoo” & Humble Pie, “Live at the Fillmor...

Picked up almost (80) 60s, 70s & early 80s soul/blues/Motown LPs yesterday at an estate sale. Only flipped through the first 10 or so and offered $50 - offer accepted so trucked them home. The few I flipped through were in mint condition and a...

Hey @slaw so I like all RA’s work,... more so ”Ashes & Fire-esque” acoustic stuff. All his work has quality production and his live recorded shows are first rate. “L@CH” is an excellent one on one with the audience. Lots of clever back and for...

Ryan Adams "Live at Carnegie Hall" straight through into Bob Mould "Workbook" - great works by both artists!
Experience with Cary CAD 808, "Rocket 88"
No one have/had a Cary Rocket 88R? Curious what others have had success with,...
Recommendations on a big 3 way bookshelf - new or vintage - speakers, have stands 17" high
Have a soft spot for JBL 4311's - my 1st quality hifi purchase in 1981. So much depends on your budget as @soix said. I'm more into 2/ways and find most better pieces can do as much if not more then a 3/way design anyway so, let me add this though...

Turns out it's actually a CAD 808 R and is a 30/60 watt newer piece. Have had ProAc Tablet EBs and liked them. Thinking on a set of Audio Physic Step SLE,... I primarily listen late night in a super quiet environment. I bet the Response 2 would be...

Also, both de Capo & Focals are 2/way,.. 2/ way vs 3/way is another discussion. Personally I’ve always preferred a quality two-way system

+1 on 3a de Capo... Focal, Profile 908s are terrific too. There’s a pair on the “other” site in cherry for $700. I’m very tempted as thats a low price for a $2500 bookshelf speaker

Still at my daughters loft watching her dogs & taking care of her spot. What started off as a 5 day B-Day pop out to LA to visit with my son and his crew is now pushing a month in CA. She’s been getting around West Hollywood and Newport Beach ...
