Simaudio, MOON, Neo MiND
In my opinion, Bernard is a good guy, no reason to feel otherwise but as representative of the Simaudio brand, he's trying to get me to spend significant money to upgrade to the MiND 2 platform; I get that. No doubt it's a worthwhile package for s...
Simaudio, MOON, Neo MiND
He will have the Simaudio techs change the internal transformer and bring it to NA spec for a couple hundred + shipping to & from MA to Montreal. We have common friends up there so he offered to do the switchover for the "right" price. I don't...
Best Bang for your Buck DAC ?
Would say shop for a used Rega DAC. Had one in my system for several years and thoroughly enjoyed it. Takes the sizzle out of the digital experience and is decidedly British in its presentation. Has several filter settings with the slightest of di...

I'm going to jump in on this resurrected thread... I recently picked up an LM-502ca. I pair it with a Node 2i, Manley Shrimp, Cary CAD808 & Equation 7 speakers in my main setup. Its replacing a Rega DACr and I'm using a coax cable to connect t...
External DAC connection for Bluesound Node 2i (after "Another streaming newbie" thread)
Been reading a bit about the Auralic Aries Mini - seems to be similar to theNode/Node 2 with no internal DAC. Anyone have experience with this piece?
External DAC connection for Bluesound Node 2i (after "Another streaming newbie" thread)
So I’m finally going to give the Node 2i a shot. I’ve been using a Line Magnetic 502CA DAC in both Tube and SS mode & like both presentations a great deal depending on the track and type of music it’s being fed. Going to try it with an Audienc...

Very happy with my Rega DACr... under a grand and maybe around $450ish for a good used piece. Fabulous build quality and plays great with any electronics I throw at it.

Was just playing around with a perfect little vintage $1,500 rig... a much written about Musical Fidelity, A100 integrated, Canton, Karat 40 (3) way monitors; beautiful German build and a Music Hall, MMF 2.1 TT w/Adcom high output MC cart. Or, how...
What’s the best tube for a Sonic Frontiers SFL-1 preamp
I run a Genalex, Gold Lion in mine,... fabulous! GL with yours @skipper320; it's a terrific linestage that paired with the right amp will bring you pure sonic joy. I've run mine with TAD, Hibachi Monoblocks, a Cary 808R tuber, and soon a Sugden Bi...

Solid-state preamp with tube power amp
Been thinking about this a lot myself... have a simple Sonic Frontiers, SFL-1 (Electro Harmonix tube) with a Cary "Rocket 88R" (Gold Lion and Raytheon tubes). Speakers in and out although right now a pair of very efficient Equation "7". It all pla...
