Help on diagnostic error in Lexicon DC-1 v. 2.1
It's been a while since I ran the diagnostic/reset procedure, but I don't recall any difficulty at all, and I simply had the instructions printed out in front of me - followed them to the letter. I don't recall having to wait too long though.I sug...
Infinity Kappa 9's
Mt, a few thoughts based on your followup comments,1 - I can imagine the ST140 wouldn't last long at all with the 9's. It's a nice little amp (I have one), not in the class of power of the others discussed above.2 - IMO, given your budget I would ...

film or music
good music, no doubt. The acid test for me is - how many movies can you watch over, and over, and over again, and get as much or more enjoyment from than you did the first time?
a little dinner music
. . . some good suggestions above, I aspecially like Jond's recommendation of Bill Evans. Jaybo also makes a good point - I actually know some people who don't like music playing during dinner. Finally, I have always liked Ralph Towner and Gary Bur...
Infinity Kappa 9's
you haven't said what your budget is, but I gather from your post you's shooting for closer to $500 than to $1000. I'm sure others can be more helpful than I but you'll want to specify this.I'm not familiar with the Kappa9's, although I have a pai...
I need your help
hey Derik, you may want to "cite" the articles, rather than "site" them. Forgive my nit-picking, but professors care about these things I think.
Record Clamp?????
I'm not at all an authority but did a little surfing already and I use the Michel clamp with my Pink Triangle table. It works nicely on any table (eg Linn) that doesn't have the clamp designed in like the Music Hall or VPI do using a threaded spin...
High Current / Low Current / No Current ??????
I found the explanation below on the B&K Website in their FAQ's and think it's good. (I copied it directly from their FAQ - so credit to B&K).============================Question: “What is a ‘high-current’ amplifier and why is it better?”A...
1st, most memorable recording...
I don't think it was a single music piece that caused me to get into the hobby (I grew up a geek, my dad owned a TV/Audio shop and we always had music in the house, and I would spend Saturday at the shop), but there was one or a few pieces that ma...
DC Metro
I thought it was great. I almost missed it also due to a conflict. Larry and Jeff (and the ladies) did a great job with organization and even better on hospitality. There were about 16-18 (my guesstimate) who made it, and we listened to plenty of t...
What's your latest "Discovery"
2 of them: Petra Haden with Bill Frisell (same title) - amazing voice, great guitar - excellent songs. And, KT Tunstall "Eye to the Telescope" - she's a Scottish singer-songwriter, excellent all the way around.
Amp for Totem mani 2 for around $1000
I'm driving mine with B&K M200 Sonatas and they're great. I tried Conrad Johnson MF2100's which were nice but not like the B&K's. Mine are vintage 1993 (I also have a pair from the first run in late 80's). The M200's can be found for ~$500...
any REALLY good music video suggestions?
"Concert for George", "The Crossroads Guitar Festival", "Allison Krauss and Union Station Live", Peter Gabriel - "Growing Up" are high on my list with a few of those listed above.
Phase Linear
well let's have a little balance in this discussion - the "Flame Linear" reputation came I believe from the fact they were used and abused in stacks for rock band performances, and they couldn't drive low impedance loads (ie <4ohms). My 400 per...
