Phase Linear well let's have a little balance in this discussion - the "Flame Linear" reputation came I believe from the fact they were used and abused in stacks for rock band performances, and they couldn't drive low impedance loads (ie <4ohms). My 400 per...
Optimizing my CD Source - what to do? no - I'm playing the Meridian stand-alone. I did some quick a/b when I installed it to convince me I didn't need the outboard DAC. took a few seconds. The Audio Mirror is being used in a second system.
Upgrading to Totem Mani 2's I use them on my Sttafs, not on my Mani-2's (don't have any for them). I don't notice a material degradation in sonics, and it gives me peace of mind when the house cleaner is around.
Optimizing my CD Source - what to do? Guys, I bought a Meridian 508.24 - received it Friday. It's a very nice improvement, and I didn't have to spend my whole budget. Thanks to all for your input!
Phase Linear I had a Phase Linear 400 (one of Carver's first designs and a semi-legendary amp)up until 2 years ago. I bought it new in the 70's. I still have 2 other PL amps. If you want to read up Phase Linear History and products check out the following webs...
Whats on your turntable tonight? completed some tweaks on my table, and bought and armload of lps at Joe's Record Paradise yesterday, so this is the lineup for today:Greatful Dead, "Europe '72""Pablo Live", w/Stephane Grappelli, Joe Pass et alChick Corea, "My Spanish Heart"Oregon...
Speakercable for Totem Mani2 ? I've tried only a few (audioquest Slate, Signal silver resolution), and found the PSAudio Statements most to my liking - even though they're too bulky for their own good IMO.
What early 70's rock bands had violins? Daryl Way's Wolf hasn't been mentioned. Try "Canus Lupus" and "Saturation Point". both excellent, with good recording quality. Probably hard to find thoughve them on vinyl that I bought in '75.
Pet Peeves - my Rants and Raves I generally agree, but here's my added 2 cents:1 - Nickel-Dimers - I hate them but have learned to live with the fact they exist. What drives me nuts is the rudeness with which most of them engage. For god sakes you're not entitled to buy at any p...
what else-$$ ????? Boats. Need several of them - one for each Skiing, Wakeboarding, Fishing, Cruising, . . .
Hooking up two Rel Storm III's to Pass Labs X-350 This is as much a question rather than a response, but if you're running 2 Rel's (ie a left and a right), why wouldn't you drive each of them from only one channel? Does the input require two + signals?I had assumed you would drive the left sub of...
Help with 33 ga Tonearm Wire Dan-ed, yes, it's the Cardas Litz wire. What flux did you use, and where did you get it? I have some stuff I use for copper plumping, but gee . . . something about that doesn't seem right.thanks, Brad G.
Help with 33 ga Tonearm Wire thanks Chad, I've had some trouble getting the solder to flow on the wire . . . perhaps that's the solution. I think I'll experiment a little with different temp settings.
Help with 33 ga Tonearm Wire thanks Kal, after posting this thread I also found a procedure written on vinylnirvana.com that used the same Cardas wire I'm using - said to burn it off using a butane lighter. This should be much better than what I was trying. I like your sugges...
Import duties/taxes on a turntable to the usa I paid 6.8% on a Musical Fidelity preamp. I bought it from a guy in Canada, so I don't know if this exactly applicable but I believe the duty rate is based on country of Mfg, not shipment origin. |
