Cable co. is forcing me to rent or buy what they call a
+1 curiousjimI would smash the friggin' TV if given half a chance.  But, the net result would be pain and anguish and even more dollars for a bigger TV as if 75" isn't enough.  My son has an 85" and my daughter has no TV at all, go figure.  Food c...

"Tweakin' at the Tweaker's Ball", with sincere apologies to Zappa.Cables of any type do not account for 50% of your hearing.  With the caveat that you're not using 22g landline telephone as speaker wire.Everything does make a difference...its up t...
If I could afford, I’d purchase 100% Oswald Mills Audio gear
I simply wonder how many layers this onion has, I've been reading for 50 years that this piece or that piece "peeled back another layer" or "lifted a veil". How many veils are there anyway? I've heard of seven but it has never been my pleasure to ...
Amp craftmanship/Quality
When I switched the original Sovtec tubes in the ARC pre for Golden Lions the change was way more and better than expected from the very first note.  No issues in 25 years.  Regards, barts
Cables that measure the same but (seem?) to sound different
The other side of the coin which I find almost completely nutz is when Paul McGowan states that he heard an amazing difference in the sound of PS Audio's reference system by changing the POWER CORDS thatare feeding the Power Plant 20 regenerators ...
Cables that measure the same but (seem?) to sound different
I happen to be friendly with Scott Hull owner/chief engineer of https://masterdisk.com/He states unequivocally that cables sound different.  I have sat in the "master's chair" and listened to the system you see in the link above (page down a bit)....
Critical listening and altered states
In bumbling feeble attempt to answer the original question...For true critical listening I believe that completely sober is the way to go.Ok, now that we got that out of the way, I also believe that a little buzz can add enjoyment to the experienc...
older CD transport vs newer ones.
There is something about this that I don't understand.  First off, no one has asked about where the "streaming" is coming from.  I believe the OP when he says that the CD transport sounds better, it is after all his system.  I don't have a dcs, bu...

A MEMBER IN NEED OF SUPPORT
david_tenGlad to hear you and your family are safe.  The devastation in New Orleans and environs is mind boggling.  It was also quite shocking to hear of all the drowning deaths here in NJ and across the river in NYC. Bad things happen to good peo...

Learning to Listen: Neurological Evidence
Not too long ago I saw an article in a scientific journal (misplaced as I am wont to do lately) which spoke entirely about reducing/eliminating tinnitus by training the brain to not process the errant signal it is receiving.Good post MC, I will ce...

PS Audio FR-30 Speaker...
I personally heard the first two iterations of these, they were not of this design at all. Forget about the first it was experimental. The second one dubbed the AN-30 for Arnie Nudell sounded very good. Got to hear them for about 30 minutes at the...
