Widely differing opinions - well, it’s complicated
Precisely why I have two systems.  A set your hair on fire basement/garage system and then a much different main system in the Music room.  Depends on what  feel like listening to. I recall many years ago reading somewhere  that Barbara Streisand...
Problem with one channel going out.....
A little late in the game for this suggestion, but always note if this problem is on cold start up or when the system is good and warm.  Is it really random is my question.  This of course is not a fix and the posts above will get you to a conclus...
The problem with streaming
The problem with streaming: I had a hankering the other day to listen to some Beethoven, so I search Qobuz and find a likely candidate (a German recording).  So I start it playing and I'm hearing this very low level rhythmic noise.  At first I th...
Audio nonsense
NFTs are one of those things that renew my long held belief that people are in general ignorant and essentially grabbing at straws in the short time available to them as breathers.  Just when you think it couldn't get dumbed down to a new level! ...

easy peasy...12 dots   but they are jumpy little buggers. Regards, barts
Audio nonsense
The best tweak is one that is virtually unidentifiable, by that I mean your system just becomes more engaging. I don't listen to my system I listen to music and actually feel kinda sorry for 'philes that always feel like something is missing in t...

Dunlavy SC IV Speaker- Any Good???
I've listened to the Duntech Sovereign quite a few times in a mastering studio with the finest original recordings.  Extremely detailed, which is why they are being used for mastering. Dunlavy may be out of business but Duntech is not, so if you ...
starting equiment that ic cold from being shipped
My logic is very simple as I'm a simple guy! My point is to take it out of the box and put it in a garbage bag to prevent airflow and then put it in the warmest part of your house. Many moons ago while in the military I was an Avionics tech work...

starting equiment that ic cold from being shipped
I have personally been in the same situation, frigid amp, and went one more step and put it a garbage bag and sealed it and YES waited four days which is when it felt like room temp. barts hates moisture and electronics agree... Regards, barts...
$100K system build - % breakdown of spend
Agree with @carlsbad in that I would be disappointed if I couldn't put together a satisfying system sans subs for 100k. Having said that bump the speaker number as an exercise and see what you find, doesn't mean you have to spend it. Speakers are...
How long ago did you catch the bug?
1960. The neighbor across the street (an EE) had a Mac mono amp and one Klipsch corner horn.  That thing played all day every day with a Mac tuner.  I was interested and amazed at 7 years old.  One day I asked him how loud it could play, they used...
Affordable vs. ultra expensive speakers - what's the difference?
I didn't realize that $50k speakers were "ultra expensive"...silly me. Regards, barts
GIK Vicoustic and others
@8th-note  I agree with your sentiment...but this is not a one-size-fits-all arrangement. This (essentially) is what we signed up for!  If the listening room doesn't require aggressive SOUND-PROOFING then your good. If external noise invasion is...
