Do any of you kids , want your system ???
My paternal grandfather had a floor model Victrola.https://www.harpgallery.com/shop/item30713.htmlI wanted it in the worst way and asked him about it.  He told me if my father didn't it would be mine someday.  He passed when I was 10 and I figured...
What is the sound level of Your Listening Room?
Witty reply: Gimme two Siri(s) and I'll let you know how out of phase I can get them...
What is the sound level of Your Listening Room?
douglas_schroederThanks. we are on the same page.  I absolutely loathe intrusive noise of any kind.Particularly phones which are banned from new and former listening rooms. Secret Intel: I unplug the main connections to the house land line when I'...
What is the sound level of Your Listening Room?
mahgister,I read your posts and think that you make many good points.  Your decibel scale is way off!  First off there is no such thing as zero decibel and obviously no one has "heard" zero decibels. Even the quietest room in the world is not "zer...
What is the sound level of Your Listening Room?
I'm in the process of building the music room, lowest level on one side of a split-level on concrete but mostly above ground.  Reframed with 6" wood wall studs then sprayed with open-cell spray foam (all surfaces). Then SAFB and finally Quiet Rock....
Why did you choose the components and speakers that are in your system?
You state that you have an opportunity to build another system. Is this to replace one that you have been using? Is it a secondary system in a different location?Regards, barts
How much reality do you really need?
rvpiano, excellent question...I'll turn the question on its head:  How much reality do you want to escape from?  Seems to me we are all in the "Disneyland" business of escapism.  If you're not then you're listening to the equipment (reality) rathe...
Springsteen and Clapton on their favorite, heh, band.
I never got into The Band, I also enjoy threads like this one so I listened to the two albums and came away with the same feelings I had back in '68.  Ambivalence, which in this case turns into work to listen.I'm happy for all the people that are ...
Lack of Female Representation
+1 mijostynHe nails it.  I believe that the technology around us is evolving exponentially faster than we as a species are.  My Victrola is just over 100 years old, its an amazing little piece that many people enjoyed at the time.  The only commo...
What Makes your System Special?
Properly tuned dedicated room and tri-amping.  All ARC gear doesn't hurt either...Regards,barts
I'm here for the sharing, not the snobery

DesiderataGo placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly...
How many vinyl albums do you own you listen to?
I have 300 or so records of the 78 rpm variety.  I enjoy listening to them when I'm in the mood.  A great juxtaposition to the main rig.  Especially when I run across a track in 78 that I have on CD.
CHALLENGE: Best speakers for playing 1812 Overture by Eric Kunzel with real CANON at 92+dB
For anyone who has the vinyl all you have to do is look at the grooves where the cannons go off, it looks like a good 60 degree angle.  That makes me stop right there.  I played it once at a low volume.Seems to me the only accurate way re-create a...
Wilson Audio Specialties Chronosonic XVX loudspeaker!! only $300,000.oo
Well I saw the speaker(s) at RMAF 2019, emphasis on "saw".  There was only one and it was obviously not connected.  Also meet Daryl Wilson and his mother.  Very nice people indeed.  That was in the Wilson room or more correctly in the adjoining ro...
