~$15K floorstanders: opinions sought
For that kind of money I’d be buying some top of the line Tannoys....stately in appearance, heirloom quality, gorgeous sounding. Designed and manufactured in the UK, Scotland.
Speaker Sampler Platter
How about just buying the wharfedale lintons at 1199...without stands. That is what comes to mind for a grand brand new.  lots of speaker for the price. Also lots and lots of positive reviews wherever you look.
MP150 or MP200
I'd try and snag a Shure m97xe, if you can find one. It's a great mm cartridge with styling cues from the shure v15, with the drop down stabilizer brush. To me it's a great sounding mm cartridge.
Tannoy Stirlings on the way!
Tannoys and tubes are a great match. However, you may be limited in how loud they will play based upon the tube amps output. The Tannoys are pretty sensitive, say 89 to 91....but no where as sensitive as say a klipsch.  I went with a single ended ...
Tannoy Stirlings on the way!
Yeah, The walk around lead singer comment was from the favorable review of the tannoy eatons by the audiophile man, Paul Rigby....
Tannoy Stirlings on the way!
Wow! Great choice! I’m sure you will love them. I own the Tannoy Legacy Eaton standmounters, the biggest stand mount speaker I’ve ever seen lol. Man, they sound terrific, especially paired with a nice class A amp/integrated. Try the sugden A21 SE ...
Denon 6500 - Am I crazy?
Ugh, keep the 2 channel and home theater seperate. 2 different animals. Those home theater amps are generally lousy for any serious 2 channel listening. They are design compromised one box do it all junk, at least when it comes to 2 channel listen...
can i recreate the sound of vinyl by encoding the vinyl frequencies onto digital audio?
Why all the effort to make digital, or attempt to make digital sound like an analog lp. The answer, and the easier road to take is to just buy a good turntable and invest in LP's. I'm scratching my head.
New Turntable Direction
I would love a linn....even the new sondek majik with the pro-ject evo arm to start. However. There is really noone locally that sells them, and online dealers refuse or cannot sell them beyond their local area. Some day I will own one. Honestly, ...
Most organic / real / analogue sounding DAC (ideally with Volume Control) for $1500??????
You could try the jolida or now black ice dac. It has a volume control that is for the headphone Jack however. It is a Tubed dac that has received some great reviews. Alternatively, you could grab the border patrol dac with a Tubed power supply se...
Good entry level cables
You cannot go wrong with audioquest type 4. You can get them cheap at audio advisor with their no frills assembled cables. Also the Qed xt25's are great low cost cables. Chord clearway lines of cables are also great.
Speaker shootout update; aggressive treble eliminating some (fairly?)
I’m puzzled as to why you have not tried or auditioned wharfedales. It seems you are fixated on aggressive treble. Why try and fix something when you can just select a speaker with a non aggressive treble. Wharfedales are known for their smooth an...
All New Pure Audio ONE Integrated Amp Reviewed!
I’ll keep my Sugden A21SE signature single ended class A. I think its prettier and only costs $3500. IMO, and in the opinion of most reviews, it is the best class A integrated available at the price.https://www.tonepublications.com/review/sugden-a...
Newbie to the awesome audiophile world
You can assemble a pretty nice system for 2 grand. Here is my suggestion:-Speakers: wharfedale diamond 225’s (read the reviews) currently $299 use to be $449, it was selected as the budget component of the year by both stereophile and absolute sou...
How to select a good Speaker Cable
Auditorium 23 would be great for me, but expensive. So, for now its audioquest type 4 and my QED silver anniversary biwire.
