Just added full LP playback Mijostyn, thanks for the info, but I have no issues with my Hana EL and pro-ject the classic combo. My bass is fine and I have wonderful detail retrieval. My post or reply was to point out that people with far more knowledge and experience, ie ste...
Just added full LP playback Not to beat a dead horse, but here it is used on the classic sb turntable in the Positive feedback review. https://positive-feedback.com/reviews/hardware-reviews/hana-el-moving-coil-cartridge/
Just added full LP playback From stereophile:The Hana EL's compliance of 10 x 10–6cm/dyne appeared to perfectly match the effective mass of my SME M2-9 tonearm ($1099), the combination exhibiting a moderate resonance at 9.5Hz. The EL tracked everything on Shure's Era IV Audi...
Just added full LP playback The tonearm on the pro-ject the classic has an effective mass of 13.5 grams, so medium mass. It is not too light for the hana cartridge. I run the EL version on the classic and it sounds great. I do agree, the hardware that comes with the hana’s (...
Art Blakey experts please ... ? A Night in Tenusia is another great Blakey lp.
My first Turntable... need some suggestions please For a bit more money and worth it, I'd have a look at the pro-ject X1. Mike Fremer reviewed it and he thinks it's a fine table. I believe it's either $799 or $899, but again worth spending the extra $300 or so bucks to get a better budget table.
Which budget turntable will provide me the best service? I'd take a look at the Thorens TD-203. It has a tonearm usually found on much more expensive tables. Originally $999, but can now be had for about $579 via Rutherford Audio.
turntable recommendations The music hall mmf-9.3 in walnut with the Goldring Eroica lx cartridge is a beautiful table. About $2500-2700.
Do I need a Phono Cable? A low capacitance per meter cable is the best, as well as good shielding. Phono cables are a specific cable and intended for that purpose. They are constructed differently than a regular interconnect. It would not hurt to swap in an affordable pho...
Advice on CD transport The Marantz hd cd-1 is a steal at current prices. It is compact, beautiful with the wood sides, and it works wonderfully as a cd transport. The headphone amp built in is also very good. Music direct had it @$399. It is a $600 player. Marantz are w...
A real "wake up call" available to most....High End Audio vs. Mainstream...... You can get good deals by stroke of luck. Bought brand new tannoys at a used price due to salesman screw up. Also got terrific deals on ebay from well known sellers of audio gear. An integrated amp $1000 off just because it was a return within 30 ...
Pondering a change after 30 odd years... If you don't mind placing them on stands, I'd recommend the Tannoy legacy eatons. They are a rather "large" stand mount speaker. Beautifully built and sound fantastic.
Thoughts on my speaker selection? What?? No Tannoys??
Wanting to get back into the hobby and want to start with the speakers. Buy some Tannoys, like right now!
Turntable Upgrade question.. In that budget range I'd go for the Thorens td 203 with tp 82 unipivot tonearm. Rutherford's is practically giving it away. Yes, it comes with a thorens tas 257 mm cartridge, but the arm could easily handle, with aplomb, a $1K cartridge easily. Re... |
