The Triplanar comes in a very nice shipping box, which you can safely run through baggage handling, or even ship UPS.
Help me pick a great phono cable
How does going balanced get me off the cable merry go round? Balanced cables have their own differences, right? How do you suggest configuring the system as "balanced" with the inclusion of a SUT? Are you saying skip the built in MC phono section ...
Rabco SL-8E Vs Top Quality Pivoted Tonearms
I ran one of these for years. But before I could do it, I had to fix the servo. Once that is done, not only is it reliable, but the motor noise is reduced and the arm keeps up with the LP properly. This is done by adding a timing constant to the se...

World's best Pre-amp for $10K and above?
Michael Fremer was also the one that would bring a CDR into our room to play, a CDR made off of a turntable. He was claiming that it sounded better than most analog, a claim he could not substantiate in our room, to say the least.

If you were able to run balanced, you could get off of the cable merry-go-round. Cartridges are a naturally balanced source so its easy to do. In addition, if you have an SUT its possible to run everything balanced even if the preamp isn't.
Linear tracking vs. Pivoted tracking tone arms.
I have also run linear trackers for years. I now run a Triplanar.IMO, the Triplanar offers a lower tracking angle distortion than most linear trackers due to the fact that most linear trackers have far more lateral tracking mass than their vertica...

We show with Triplanar arms at shows a lot.In all cases, the arm arrives at the show in its own shipping container. We install the arm on the 'table and the cartridge on the arm at the show. There is no other way to do it where you can be guarante...
Acceptable level of hum at max volume?
Hum is not inherent in tubes even if there is no shielding, any more than in transistor circuits. However, there are compromises that can occur in a design wherein a slight amount of hum at full volume might show up. I would contact the manufacture...
Why did this fix my problem?
Huh! OK- yes, its very possible (and with this new information, very likely) that indeed the preamp is simply passing the LF noise along from the source. However there is a feedback mechanism that is also in play and its hard to know if that is th...
Manufacturers' warning not to change tubes
We have no problem with customers installing output tubes that they got from elsewhere.People often ask us which 6SN7s sound best in our amps and we tell them what information we have from the field as well. However, people want to roll tubes in ou...
World's best Pre-amp for $10K and above?
the most organic and analog sounding SACD player, the Accuphase DP-700, damn pricey and hard to find used.We ran one of these in our room at CES for a few years. It was handily beaten by the Stahltek playing the same cuts on Redbook. I have heard ...
Where's the trade off?
I'm not used to have to wait very long for a tube amp to start making music. I start the system up first thing when I get home and within 30 seconds its sounding fine. There are things that can cause a longer warmup time, like bad filter caps. Any ...
Why did this fix my problem?
Russ, the solution you have right now is a jury-rig. You need to get the preamp sorted out- and when you do, I think you will appreciate the improvement.
