The Future of Audio Amplification
There are also some amps like the latest Technics SE-R1, which are true digital amplifiers in that they convert everything from Analog to Digital, allow for phase and amplitude correction in the digital domain, and then produce an output based ...
Does anyone care to ask an amplifier designer a technical question? My door is open.
But the only other relatively minor issue I’ve ever perceived in his paradigm paper is that as worded it might lead **some** readers to believe that the high output impedance and other characteristics of his amplifiers (and various other tube a...
Measuring DC offset.
I like the DC Offset to be under 10mV but depending on the specs that might be nominal.
A problem with AC Power you may not have considered.
@spatialking You might want to look into Elgar for power conditioning. They can make a very pure sine wave right up to full output (which means no HF noise). They employ a large isolation transformer equipped with a feedback loop. An on-board low ...

correct me if I’m wrong. That has been my attempt in the past. I try to do it without personal attacks- the principle being: attack the argument, not the poster.A promotional device in what manner? Do you think Roger is using this thread to try an...
The Future of Audio Amplification
^^ This is partly true as written. George, the residual **is** the switching frequency. So this bitso by the time the residual reaches 20khz what’s left with the 1.5mhz is down nearly 3 lower in amplitude and has less phase shift in the audio ba...

Does that give you the right to be a self proclaimed forum cop.Of course not- neither am I attempting to enforce any rules. That's the pot calling the kettle blackOh- can you point me to a thread I've created on this site? Meanwhile, irony is...

Or there might be a third explanation.Attainment of the tipping point of your cortex?Simpler than that. This is a public forum. Anyone who wishes can post anywhere on the forum, including this thread as long as they are a member. I've been here si...

The answer is that the industry cares more about power than nuance. As well many speaker designers don't realize the relationship between amp and speakers so they don't realize that by making the speaker lower impedance, the amp will make more dis...
The Future of Audio Amplification
The Technics is the "blue" uses the GaN transistors, very fast quickly settling and reduced ringing, much closer to resembling the ideal grey square wave. https://ibb.co/87Kh2mVAnd now bench tests of Stereophile, use a special very low power high ...
The Future of Audio Amplification
This morning on the morning show they said electric cars are not going to take off for another 15 years. Where are we at with class D right now? Everyone keeps saying that the future is class D but where is that in the future? They’ve been saying t...

If the capacitance of a cable causes rolloff, is that an artifact?Of course.
A Question About Volume Controls Types
Maybe somebody else can tell if there's an advantage with one type of volume control over another?Digitally controlled controls often employ a chip that does the actual volume control change. Because of that the resistive elements often are not to...
Mystery of the whistling amplifier
Sounds to me like you have microphonic tubes. Give the tubes a good twack with your index finger and see if they react (whistle changes or goes away temporarily). If they do, replace them.
Clean Power without the drawbacks of Conditioning Filtering. Advice?
I don't use power strips. They force you to be using a common power cord with everything plugged into it.I use separate power cords instead, plugged into enough outlets. I had a few extra added! The ROMEX in the wall is better performance than a f...
