What is the fascination? Cleeds. Here is the thread about building great turntable at a low cost.Notice that this is the second thread about building cheap TT. The first had already gone viral.https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/building-high-end-tables-cheap-at-home-...
What is the fascination? Nor am I dissing older models. I've had many of them in my sixty years of spinning vinyl. But I've been here a long time and remember the turning point. If someone is willing to do the refurb on an older table then they will save some money
What is the fascination? Imo, $$$. The whole craze started when a post went viral about making a great TT for$100 spent at Home Despot. One yr later a 50 dollar TT sold for$4-500. Now that$100 is selling for many thousands of dollars. So it must be good... Right?First it ...
Theta Miles CD player WOW! Didn't expect to run across this thread. I don't get around here much anymore. But I've considered investing in a new CDP, mainly because my Miles is getting old. I've had it around 18 yrs and it still sounds good to me. I've considered a use...
Butcher BLock Acoustics under turntable I have used 4" maple under my ScoutMaster when I had it. I prefer a sandbox. I have one under my Teres now. Having done a lot of experiment with footers, etc, mostly under my cdp, I can tell you that the material makes a difference in the sound. I...
New Vinyl If you are a Skynyrd fan the Analog Productions reissues are very good. All the original Skynyrd pressings I have are flat sounding. I have the 45 Gimme Back My Bullets & 33 Nuthin' Fancy. Both sound excellent. I suspect the rest are just as g...

Please evaluate my system... Tim, I know the 103 has been all the rage for the last decade. But can it REALLY compete with better & more expensive cartridges? Some....maybe. But I doubt it will compete with the better Benz or Zyx or Lyra, etc. I had the Scoutmaster and fo...
Sub Woofer for Golden Ear Technolgy Triton 5 Sumiko S-9 or S-10. They are a Rel clone and ideal for music IMO. Integration is great and will make your main speaker sound bigger. I bought 2 S-10's from Paragon. They are on close out due to dropping the Sumiko name for Sonus Faber in the next ...
Anyone running a Sumiko S-10 subwoofer for music? Impressions? How about Hsu ULS-15? @ttocs I now have 2 of the Sumiko S-10's. Fantastic subs. Goes deeper than my Rel Storm 3 which was a great sub in its day. I too had a hum which I had to overcome. I found the fix on Rels website. It was not the cable coax in my system. I can tel...
Finally bought my subwoofers...Sumiko S-10 Thanks for the chicken head knob idea. My Rel Storm had course & fine adjustments on the crossover points. You could get the exact same point using that system. the round knobs make it more difficult. I suspect they are put on with a set screw...
Finally bought my subwoofers...Sumiko S-10 Wolf. The speakon cable is a different animal for sure. I had trouble with a hum at first. But it didn’t sound like a ground loop because it increase in volume with a volume increase of the sub. I finally found the fix on the Rel site. They sugges...
Isolation stands: snakeoil? I have not experimented with my TT isolation since it is a mass loaded TT which weighs about 120 lbs. For it, I borrowed Chris Brady's design which includes a sandbox at the top with legs filled with concrete which makes for a dead surface upon wh...
