how much should I spend to get a better turntable than my current turntable?
I tend to agree with @systembuilder22  about the classic vintage. However the problem there is that many of us have had those tables earlier in life and wore them out. So, unless you get one that has been rebuilt, its like buying a 1978 Chevy Mali...
Go get out your pitchforks, I’ve done a sacrilegious thing. . .
@sns  I’d only find system EQ valuable if changing settings by individual recording. Yep. I put a 10 band eq in my system in the 80’s. It caused my Sound Man exp to kick in and almost worked me to death fine tuning every album and sometime dif...
Cables recommendation
I keep looking at Audio Envy cables. They get excellent reviews. They are not as inexpensive as the Blue Jeans cables but they are still not priced where the big boys are. A 6' set of their top of the line  SP12 speaker cables (ribbons) is  $475. ...
Cartridges, Vinyl, Stylus, Turntable
@oregon  Thanks for the answer to the question, "Why on earth" It sounded like a system dedicated to casual listening by the household. I always listen to digital when casual listening is involved mostly because it doesn't interrupt my work, etc....

+1 @mijostyn  That was my first impression too
Subwoofers and Crossovers.
@dimbhaka  @kenjit  To low Pass Filter or NOT to Low Pass Filter. That is the question. I am a Rel fan and have had them for 20 yrs. Here is their take on the Low Pass Filter. Make what you will of their position Low Pass Filter?
Subwoofers and Crossovers.
@dimbhaka I am curious as to why you want to install a more complicated system which lengthens the signal path with a separate crossover unitand extra IC's IOW why not use the internal crossover in the Rel (or whatever sub you choose? Not meant ...
Speaker polyamory -- or, stories about getting a second set to alternate with your primary
@mike_in_nc  A curious question. Did you post on the Corvette Forum (C6) at one time? Maybe still, under the same name.
ABS: What Is The Trouble With Measurements.
However, readers and reviewers alike cannot really escape the issue of epistemology that confronts all of us as humans and as audiophiles. In plain english, we all face the issue of how we gather and transmit knowledge of the sound of audio equip...
Reliable source Psvane CV181-T MKII
Sorry, but I lost all trust of Viva Tubes when they began to gouge their customers the very day the sanctions were declared. They were the 1st to do so and they are among the highest prices of any from the starting day of the sanctions. I won't bu...
Phono Stage Amp
@mulveling has given the best advice. 56db is not enough gain for a LOMC IMO. This is especially true of 25mv cart which is very low output. I believe your phono pre is failing to keep pace with the rest of your system. Many people my self include...
I CONFESS: I Need Additional Chemical Input
I always appreciate people who have enough curiosity to try things. I'd have chosen Graphene coating, but then too you had the ceramic and the curiosity at the same time so bravo to you for the effort. I don't have any ceramic or graphene yet but ...
How did you get started in this hobby
Hobby!!!???? For me this isn't a hobby. Its part of my life. I can't remember when I didn't love music. I spent my allowance $$$ on 45's when I was 8-9 yrs old. In my 20's we moved around a lot and the 1st thing to go into the P/U truck was my ste...
Turn down the Volume!
I don’t know what decibel I listen but I know a lot of HiFi stores turned me off because they played the music  too loud IMO. I guess they were trying to impress me.  Yet I generally play it louder than the casual listener. Often I don’t really th...
Analog vs. digital
As usual a +1 @ghdprentice I came back to vinyl about 20 yrs ago and was surprised how close a <$1K TT and <$1K phono preamp came to my digital and often bested it. I've moved up quite a bit since then and actually my vinyl rig is much more ...
