Is Subwoofer Elevation a Viable Option? According to Rel, the answer is NO! The feet are at the proper height for the down firing speaker. Raising or lowering them is not advisable. I suspect its because it interferes with the subs proper interaction with the floor.
Trends in value of vintage / used audio equipment? Its been a buyers market for 3 yrs or more. One must have a very desirable piece and/or have a fire sale price on it to get a bite or sale
What should I look for when purchasing a quality album? @lewm Don't you know that all records are very valuable now? Seriously I agree on value. I'm not sure I have ever used their value as a guide. But their grading scale is very good. Of all the used albums I bought back in the early 2000's, I ma...
What should I look for when purchasing a quality album? I'm not sure anyone has mentioned Goldmine rating scale for used records. This is important to know IMO.Learn it and you will know how much snap crackle & pop will be in those grooves. You can do this just by looking at the album. A good deale...
Load Settings Help: Luxman E-250 and Koetsu Black Line @viridian The only way to load a cartridge at 47k on the e250 is to operate it without the transformers in circuit, so in MM mode. In MM mode, the gain is fixed at 38db, the output of the cartridge is .4mV. I doubt it is enough gain. I did no...
Load Settings Help: Luxman E-250 and Koetsu Black Line As I understand atma-sphere (Ralph Karsten's) explanation, the lower your setting is, the stiffer the cantilever (& suspension) of your cartridge will get. The higher settings allow the cartridge to track more freely. I have found that many LO...
YOUR AUDIOPHILE JOURNEY WHEN DID IT START AND HOW DID YOU GET TO YOUR DREAM SYSTEM? Bought my 1st record when I was 8-10 yr5s old. That was 1959-61. Got $2 allowance and bought 2 45's every week. I've loved music all my life. I had a turntable console of some sort. I have never been without a music playing system since then. I ha...
Which subwoofer should I get? @mwsl One of the things I’m concerned about is having the properly sized sub for my room, which is 19’x17’x9’ (peaked roof design) My room is very similar with a 13' peak and a 12' dining room open to the LR where my system resides. I have 2 ...
Which subwoofer should I get? I've used Rel subs for 20-25 yrs and have never seen a reason to change. I'm also a drummer who has sat near the bass amp for a long time. I know what a bass guitar (or stand up) sounds like. Rel produces that sound. But more importantly, its the ...
Conrad Johnson MF2250A / MF2500A vs CJ MF2275SE / MF2550SE The biggest difference is that the SE indicates it has the Teflon Caps. I had a 2500A but haven't heard the newer amps
sources for DIY speaker cables @ghdprentice 2008 Stereophile just for fun they added some wire they bought from Home Depot... a 10 guage 3 conductor extension cord. It was a 14-3 extension cord...orange with a black stripe. I have a pair somewhere.
Do Audio Hobbyists Commonly Fail to Fully Utilize Their Systems? This morning the timbre and soundstage is unlike I've ever heard from this chair. For a year at least I had two filters fighting each other squashing my tunes! You went for a year without noticing? What changed this morning? maybe you listened...
Black Sabbath and Jazz fans? Very interesting.. I've been a Sabbath fan since their 1st release. I've tried to get/like jazz for some time now and it just doesn't work for me. I do like David Sanborn, Lee Rittenaur Bob James, etc. But that too is limited. Though I like what I...
Any experience with VPI Super Prime scout with 10.5 inch tone arm I have had a couple VPI ScoutMaster tables *& arms. The unipivot arm is different, in that it wobbles some when cued for the 1st second as it finds its equilibrium. I always used the cuing lever so I never thought it to be a problem. Differ...
Legacy Focus SE or PS Audio FR20 As for testing with my Plinius, of course that would be ideal but virtually impossible given the amp is 35 years old and unlikely to be found in any listening room @aheydorn Is there a Legacy &/ or PSA dealer withing a reasonable distance.... |
