It's moderately good for source components, not good for amps particularly high current ones. I would say worth a try.
If it’s any help, I had an Aurora 7 and didn’t care for it at all. I thought it imparted a harsh quality and the plug didn’t lock into the component very well. I thought the Cullen crossover was much better. I’m not that much of a power cord person, but I’ve never come across any other PC that I felt made my system sound worse than a good quality stock cord other than the WW. |
Jafant, first impressions are impressive. With less than 5 hours the sound was shut-in but improving with time. Currently the cable has less than 10 hours of play time so perceived differences may not be reflect the actual performance of the cable. The treble is beginning to show a glimpse of brilliance by sounding more open and extended than the Electra 7, and the midrange sounds slightly airier with more space between instruments. Basically a more open, dynamic and larger than life sound(relative to the Electra 7) which I am seeking, which is a good thing. The bass is still sounding slightly forced though. The power cord will probably require about a week or two to break-in and I’ll see if there’s further changes after it’s all done. At this point of time I am glad to report that it is sounding better than the Electra 7 and getting close to the performance of my reference Acrolink cord which costs 5 times more.

Jafant, although the Silver Electra 7 is not fully burn in yet, the sound quality is very good at the moment. The treble has more energy and sounds more extended with greater clarity than the Electra 7. Music used is mainly classical piano. Piano sounds more more illuminated and dynamic on the silver electra 7, flatter and duller on the Electra 7. In comparison to my reference Acrolink 8N-PC8100 cord, the Silver Electra 7 actually sounds more extended in the treble. The Acrolink sounds more controlled with a fuller midrange and treble. Basically a sound that is fuller, warmer with a slight reduction in airiness. The Silver Electra 7 will be better for systems which require more treble energy and dynamics. On the other hand the Electra 7 will be more suitable for brighter systems since the sound is duller. All these Wireworld power cords are used on DACs since I already have a good Acrolink cord on the amp. Based on my previous experience, the WW Electra 7 does not sound good on amps so it will always go to the DAC or CD player. The Silver Electra 7 will also be used only on DACs. |
Thanks Jafant. I’ll come back in 2 weeks time and report on the outcome. I hate the break-in process of cables. Currently on the 3rd day, I believe this is the worst sound quality I am getting with the Silver Electra 7. All airiness is gone and everything sounds flat and muffled, 2-dimensional flat instead of 3-d. It sounds like excessive Dolby NR was applied. Even the Electra 7 sounds better than this at the current moment. The cable currently has about 20 hours on it and based on my previous experience good things will come after 150 to 200 hours if not more. Now, I’ll just have to put up with this less than stellar sound for a while but have high hopes of achieving the desired result when it’s all over.

@jafant just to update that the Silver Electra 7 has lived up to expectations. However, the star of the day may go to the Wireworld Platinum Starlight 8 USB which I installed yesterday. Stunned at the changes and happy. |

Thank You for the Silver Electra 7 update. Good to read that the PC is a welcomed addition to your System. No doubt that the WW Platinum level of cables/cords is outstanding. To date, I have never heard any iteration of Platinum. Otherwise, I would have endorsed much like the Electra/Silver Electra series.
Happy Listening! |
I can confirm on the Silver Electra 7 being very good on sources, I own a bunch of them. I would never put them on an amp, but like them on dacs, transports, and maybe even preamps. I pair them with a fuller beefier sounding power cord on my amps. It’s a winning combination. Good prices on the Silver Electras too, relatively speaking. |
@jafant I have not had my system in operation since late July when my pre amp needed service, I just got it back but I am in Florida for a while. Will be bringing it back home with me for the Thanksgiving to Christmas holiday season. I will get the rig running again at that time. The Electra 7 is hooked up to my DDC unit. It's been a long and painful wait. |
Hi Jafant, The Wireworld cables are sounding great with the Luxman DA-06 DAC particularly the Silver Electra 7 at it neutralized the warmth of the DAC by providing a more open sound with better clarity and detail in the midrange and treble. With the Chord DAC, the Acrolink cable works better so it’s a matter of matching the right cord to the right component. Yes, the Marten Duke 2 which I have is very nice. They displaced the Harbeth SHL5+ from the main system last year. |
@jafant @ryder Today I scored a 2 M Silver Electra 7 for my DAC at 50% MSRP! The Electra 7 is currently on my DDC unit. It (SE7) should be here sometime next week. Thanks for the feedback, I've been searching for one ever since you two reported on the Silver Electra 7. I look forward to the combo E7/SE7 on DDC/DAC combination. (Dinafrips Hermes/Venus II) I did notice some improved dynamics in my system, may be attributed to PC but I also inserted my upgraded pre amp at the same time. I have a culmination of improvements going on all at once. |
Great cable choice, I have 10 silver Electra 7 power cables on 2 systems all with the reference ends, And I couldn't be happier. best cable I have auditioned . I also have a Saturn 103 C conditioner on each system with a 20 amp dedicated line, and a cardas 4181 outlet. The soundstage is beautiful, zero noise. |

@fthompson251 I'm sorry my emails didn't get through to you. Go to the link on my listing at AM and call the number if you are still interested in paying below wholesale. Or check your junk or delete (some emails go straight to delete depending on what you use for email). |
@fthompson251 Received. Thank you. Will go out today. |
@vinylvalet I found it in spam and sent the money, thanks for responding here!! I need to be smarter and ck that when expecting an email. DUH! Looking forward to the WW S7, it's going on my CD Transport. |
Jafant and fthompson251, sorry for the late response as I was busy at work. I also didn’t spend much time with the hifi lately. It's good to hear that the Silver Electra 7 has worked out for you. Similarly it did to me, and it’s the same experience as described. I have recently sold the Electra 7 after getting the Silver electra 7. I have been swapping power cords and DACs and currently have an Acrolink cord on the DAC. I will switch to the Electra 7 when I have the time.

@ryder @jafant @vinylvalet @hilroy48 My Silver Electra 7 now has about 75 hours on it. (It’s Used) It’s really making a positive impact on my system. It’s located on my DAC. My Electra 7 is located on my DDC unit. My second Silver Electra 7 is on the way. (Also Used, thank you vinylvalet!) Today I was listening to my CD transport for about 4 hours. My reactions so far are that after I let it "cook" for another day with out listening that time made a big improvement from 24 hours to 75 hours on it. There is a better top end delicacy, an extended shimmer to the music just floating in air now. The Bass is better controlled, bigger yet with better pitch definition and front end impact. It hits quickly. The transparency to hear further into the soundstage is improved, I can easily pick out things with in the soundstage, instruments, voices, just so much more information. The tonal character of the music seems more natural as well. Things just sound "right."
Have any of you tried one of these on a streamer? My plan is to place this one on my CD transport as information from other owners reports is that they work well there. But I am intrigued by how it would effect my streamer? Thoughts? I can swap it back and forth to find out for myself. The collective improvements are nice once you have more than one of these PC’s in the front end components. I can see more in my future some day. Thanks to all that have contributed to this thread, it’s been a fun journey. Keep us all posted as you grow with them in your systems as well. |
