Whats playing on your system today?

Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.

I listened to Trower songs:
Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....

Then I pulled out "Gamma".
I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....

Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?

Not to beat a dead horse... BUT, while I might not be the world's biggest Robin Trower fan, for whatever reason, been listening to him a good deal yesterday and today.  Going through some of his older discography that I'm less familiar with (i.e., NOT Bridge of Sighs that I know too well), e.g., Long Misty Days, Twice Removed & City Dreams, I was really struck by James Dewar's vocal on Bluebird from City Dreams.  What a beautiful voice.

Also pulled up two of Trower's more recent releases:  2016's Where Are You Going To & 2015's Something's About to Change.  Gosh, even on Spotify, the sonics on these recordings are superb.  The song writing is strong and Trower sounds excellent.  Very economical and tasteful guitar playing.  Thanks to all who've posted earlier about RT.  Might just have to buy WAYG & SATC.
Anita Keley, song "The night has a thousand eyes".
Halie Loren, sond "Sway".
Beth Hart, song "One eyed chicken".

N
Elton John, Honky chateau.
Elton John, Captain Fantastic.

Two of my favs! I attended a Sir Elton and Billy Joel concert years ago. One of the best shows by two of the best.

czarivey,

I think I'll look into the SNFU. Sounds like something that might be in my wheelhouse. Safe travels.

N

I'll be on long road trip for about 8 hours.
Plan to play while on the trip:
1. John Pizzarelli/Vanessa Rubin -- trad jazz
2. Youn Sun Nah -- Same Girl -- contemporary jazz, electronica
3. SNFU -- self-titled  -- punk, garage
4. Alpha & Omega -- Mystical Things -- indie

Are there any Blue Oyster Cult fans out there? I Just listened to Secret Treaties, again. It’s my favorite, a classic Cult! Not the best recording on CD, I do remember it being better on LP. "Career of evil", any albumn with these lyrics:

"...I’d like your blue eyed horseshoe, I’d like your emerald horny toad. I’d like to do it to your daughter on a dirt road..." has to be great. Right? Don't forget " Dominance and Submission". Great song great guitar work and vocal effects.

Onto-
Agents of fotrune, "Don’t fear ths reaper" and others
Mirrors, is great too. "Vigil" and "I am the storm" and others.

I could be here all day.

radfrad,

Mine was Firethorn red! Thanks for sharing your story.

Faster61woman,

Anything goes on this thread. I have the Zebra you referenced. Good stuff.
Please log on more often. I'm interested in more of your catalogue.

Today:
Firehouse, S/T- CD, recorded well.
Tesla, Mechanical Resonance -CD.
Great White,  Once Bitten-CD, one song "Rock me".
Def Leopard,  On through the night- CD, one song "Rock Brigade". Not a very good recording, but a great song.

I attended a Tesla/Great White concert when they were at their peak and still filling large arenas.

Later on:
Black Sabbath S/T. One of their best and one creepy albumn cover.
Whitesnake, S/T

What are you listening to today?

This seems to be a mostly eighties thread... so..I'm surprised no one has mention Zebra "S/T".

This fits in perfectly and has all of the makings of a great eighties' lp and has some prog references.

I've heard the Triumph, the Scorpions, etc.. This is something different and kind of fresh.

My family had a  Cutlass Supreme.  It was the car I drove when I first got my drivers license. It also had a 350 in it also   I punched it so much I broke the motor mounts the mechanic told my dad.    Lighter Blue in color/ blk interior

So far tonight

Steve Perry, Street Talk. Not a bad first solo effort. Believe it or not, I actually owned a copy of this on pre-recorded Cassette tape! Sounded great in my 77 Olds, Cutlass Supreme. 350 Rocket engine with a 4 barrell carb. Kenwood 3-way 6x9's. Pioneer super tuner tape deck and 200 watt Kenwood 7 band amplifier/equalizer!

N
"Unchained" from Meanstreak is another crank it tune!                                           Now playing Moving Pictures, Rush via LP sounding superb!
gshephardbuster,

Thanks for the assist. Glad it's not just me, my hearing or my system. All of the Van Halen recordings, IMHO, could have been begter. I do like "Mean Street" from Fair Warning. It's a great song to play at high altitude.

I listened to Aranda, Stop the World. (2012) I really like their energy. "Hey Sally" and "Satisfied " are great but the whole CD is pretth good. Recorded well.

radfrad,

Nice session. I'm working on my pool so I just listened to Jimmy Buffet! Later i think I'll revisit some of your selections.

N
American Woman.  Guess Who.  Lp
Allman Brothers.  Enlightened Rogue.  Lp
Jack Bruce.   At his Best.  Lp
Stephenwolf.  16 Greatest Hits.  Lp

R
Yup, Balance and 5150 are a touch too much via cd. 5150 is better via lp, not sure about balance.
Van Halen,  Balance on CD. Great Van/Hagar effort but the recording sounds a bit bright on my system. Anyone else experience this on this recording?

N
Weezer, Self titled, on CD.
Weezer has some fantastic music. Easy to listen to. Don't take everything so seriously,,, seriously!

N

Kansas, Two for the show.
Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, Hypnotic Eye.
Motorhead, Ace of Spades.

Today. it's the Cocteau Twins queued up in Roon...

Heaven or Las Vegas (1990)
Treasure (1984)
Head Over Heels (1983)

This is a discovery project. For the last year Roon and Tidal have been reporting that the Cocteau Twins are similar to artists I've listened to.

So far, I've heard similarities: The Sundays, Dead Can Dance, The Cure, Kate Bush, Everything But The Girl. I like what I'm hearing...

...so I'll keep listening until I veer off in another direction.

I just renewed my Roon subscription for another year. Roon and Tidal are either the best thing that's ever happened to my music listening or negatively impacting my already too short attention span.
