Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1

Vladimir Horowitz - New York Philharmonic* • Eugene Ormandy, Rachmaninoff* – Concerto No. 3 - Golden Jubilee Concert · Recorded Live at Carnegie Hall (1978 RCA)

@spiritofradio Porcupine Tree is one of my favorite bands. Fear of a Blank Planet is absolutely brilliant song writing.

Rachmaninoff, Byron Janis, London Symphony, Antal Dorati – Piano Concerto No. 3  Mercury Living Presence 1961

Carl Nielsen, New Philharmonia Orchestra, Jascha Horenstein – Symphony No.5, Op.50 / Saga-Drøm, Op.39 (Nonesuch – 1969)

@dayglow FWIW, The Japanese pressing of Crisis is really good if you're looking for a better one. Under-rated album IMHO.

@femoore12 A Neko night is a good night!

Tom Waits - Mule Variations

Def Leppard - On Through The Night

They were really rocking on this record, and I think they were all teenagers when they wrote it.  This and High 'N' Dry are probably my two favorite Leppard albums.

@sbank

Thx!  It's always a risk buying used from estate/garage/yard sales but at $1-$5 an album you have to chance it because original pressings usually have the best SQ. I even bring a small maglite to examine the record wear, it helps but there is no guarantee until played.

Def Leppard - Hysteria  This doesn't rock like their earlier albums but the songwriting and production are top notch.

@sbank

Nice selections Spencer. My TT will be cranked up soon, but first, streaming the Berlin Philharmonic live via the Digital Concert Hall…..live New Years Eve concert. Outstanding. Then, onto some vinyl, a ‘new’ one should be arriving any minute now.

Brian, I found a pp of Comes a Time years ago for $4. It is a superb/sounding record!

@slaw

Yes it is Steve. I bought mine when it came out, but for whatever reason, preferred his older albums and it never got much TT time. As we get older, at times, things that didn’t interest us then, do now. Such is the case for Comes A Time for me. It really sounded incredible last night. Kinda like having a new album.

Hope you are doing well.

Thanks Brian. I guess I didn't make it clear that I'm with my mother full time for several weeks while my sister recovers from shoulder surgery. No time for music, ☹️.

Thanks Steve! It is a Happy Birthday for me. And, yes, it is a good selection. I really like that Cracker album. Don't have it on vinyl though.

Not sure if that on ever came out on vinyl. I have Kerosene Hat though.

@slaw Steve, hang in there Brother.  Hopefully you will have time to enjoy favorites and to explore music on your earphones during this time.

@sbank

Yep, kinda figured. Just did the same not too long ago, so understand. Hope all, including you, are doing well, and you will be back to your rig soon.

Happy Birthday Tom and Happy New Year to all!

2018 45 RPM EP on Sub Pop

FYI, This is a six-song release featuring material that Sam Beam worked on while writing the 2017 record Beast Epic.  If you don’t know Beast Epic I’d highly encourage you to check it out.  Beautiful songs with simple, just enough instrumentation.   WG also includes the song “Waves of Galveston” a track that Sam has performed live but never officially released.

Staying with Szell and the Clevelanders….
