For me its the first or very early LP's of: Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South" Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer" and, Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
I think Delvon is a Seattle guy. I've seen him a couple of times here in Cincinnati at Plaid Room Records. The owners of Plaid Room Records are Bob and Terry Cole. Terry Cole is also the owner of Colemine Records, who released the Delvon Lamarr records. Colemine does a lot of soul, roots, non-mainstream R&B and Indie stuff. Love Delvon Lamarr. Seems like a great guy. Got to talk with him a bit last time he was here. And Bob and Terry Cole, Colemine and Plaid Room are top notch.
Go see Delvon Lamarr at your local haughts, or wherever you see them playing. Fun stuff.
Will check out Delvon. Plaid Room, yeah! Just ordered a title I’d been missing from them this week. Some other stores have added the feature too but I like how you can ask them for immediate notice when they get something in from back order/on restock. I agree that they do a great job.
Tom, looks like Delvon Lamarr has played the Jack London venue here in Portland. It’s a pretty good room. I get their newsletter (mostly depressing over the last couple of years) but will watch for him as they open up. Last night Grey’s Anatomy and I had a date night out! Small Jazz joint off Mississippi Avenue here. The band wasn’t the greatest but so nice to be out again hearing music.
Brian….that very thought crossed what is left of my mind…. Ever since he got the Cadenza Black, he seems a bit more possessive… He did offer up Echo and The Bunneymen
My lp input has been slower than usual this week. Here's my only one thus far: Tedeschi/Trucks Band " Layla revisited (Live at Lockn')" Sides 1 & 2 ready to go. As always, I hope for the best.
Tedeschi/Trucks Band (featuring Trey Anastasio) "Layla revisited, Live @ Lockn'"
Got the first listen under my belt now.
Early on in my music listening/reading, I always noticed that the original "Layla" was panned for inferior SQ. Never had a copy until several years ago, I tried a "1st pressing?" from a reputable dealer on ebay. SQ sucked. A few years later when the latest MFSL was released, I bought it. It was definately a step in the right direction but was far from what I had hoped for. Still I rarely play it for the lack of good SQ.
Enter this new labor of love by some of the best musicians working today. The SQ is outstanding. I'm able to hear all of the great vocalists separately when they are singing together. Several times the main male vocals are eerily similar to Eric's. The lead guitar playing is at least as good. They do jam some but "that's alright with me".
As a bonus, there are two extra songs on side D instead of having a non-music side. Quality vinyl. Big thumbs up!!!
Steve, So sorry to hear about your mother. I went through the same thing myself a couple years ago. Tough situation for sure. Thoughts and prayers for you & your mother.
cd318, It is a great album on a great label (Fire)! Picked it up a week or two ago. Now I'm looking for their prior album. It really never ends LOL.
So, the new Pat Metheny is both different and really good. Even if you’re not a huge fan, think about checking out the cut “Lodger” on your favorite stream. It rocks.
