Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1
Oops, totally out of it last night.  I meant “Beth” Gibbons, not Ruth.  Yikes!
Tedeschi/Trucks Band ’High & Mighty" , 2019 RSD/ 45rpm/ mastered by Kevin Grey
The Band "Music From Big Pink" 2018/Capitol/45 rpm

I’m not a The Band expert. I know Eric is out there reading this. I have no other lp for comparison besides a well worn pp I got for .50 cents.

Frankly, I would never have paid much attention to The Band if it wasn’t for Eric’s posts. So, I thank him for that!

Listening now, I get the (greatness), I understand the way they were ahead of their time.

So...as far as SQ goes, I wonder how they achieved the fantastic SQ I’m hearing.?

50 years on, this sounds fresh. Far better than I'd ever imagined.

Hey Slaw, I couldn't open that link. What is the name of the band/album?

way better than the messy pan of the original
The Band was all pre digital but importantly for both Big Pink and The Basement Tapes ( Dylan w The Band backing ) imo the sound quality and feel come from 3 things
recording relatively stress free at “
home “, almost direct to RtR with minimal tracks so simple submixers used and no fix it in the mix mentality, finally relatively simple but musical Revox A and B series machines required them to play live together....

I got The Basement Tapes ( MoFi ) on right now....
Just finished Aerosmith "Rocks"  Legacy

Now...Gregg Allman ""Southern Blood"
Grateful Dead
Aoxomoxoa
original mix   o/p
been dragging these around for quite awhile Aoxomoxoa is a bit scratchy
Maazel conducts Tchaikovsky 4th. The Cleveland Orchestra. Telarc 1979

Great recording.
@j_damon
Played my old copy of Aoxomoxoa a few days ago. Hadn’t listened to it in a long time, and figured it was going to be in pretty bad shape. But, lo and behold, it is still in pretty good shape. I always liked that album.
Jim,
I sent my "Live" Teskey Brothers lp back as it was defective. Looking forward to a nice replacement.
Hall & Oates - Voices. This is one of the more disappointing MFSL releases. I had to send one back because it was super noisy. I could only listen to it for about 30 seconds and had to take it off the turntable. This one doesn't have noise but it's really bright and there's sound sibilance in the vocals.
@slaw

You have a lp cleaner?

yep, just a Spin-Clean, but thinking of making a better investment.
@bkeske,

As much as you listen, you'd be wise to invest in  good cleaner.
Boxer...thanks for the Ubu idea
Pere Ubu "The Modern Dance"
