Fritz Reiner conducts Rachmaninoff - Concerto No. 2 In C Minor, Op. 18. The Chicago Symphony Orchestra with Van Cliburn, piano. RCA Victor Red Seal reissue, probably mid-70’s, originally 1962
Thanks Jim!

Aerosmith - Draw the Line
|
Miles - Sketches of Spain, mono (and unbreakable!).
I've been contemplating getting a mono cartridge but I only have a handful of mono releases. I'm wondering if it's really worth it. It sounds pretty darn good with my kiseki blue with the mono switch engaged on the Heron preamp.

Lots of new arrivals today, one new album, and a nice ‘music care package’ of older classical selections from Jim, which was a surprise and much appreciated.

Genesis - "Nursery Cryme"
From the gifted stack. Not in perfect condition, but listenable. I believe this may be the first time I've ever heard this record. Wasn't sure what to expect. It's definitely British Prog. Not bad. If you like that sort of thing...

Mark Knopfler "Kill to Get Crimson"

David Lee Roth - "Skyscraper"
Listening to a small stack of records that was gifted to me by a buddy who knows I listen to vinyl. Most of them were completely trashed and unlistenable. However, a very few are in decent condition. So, this DLR album is the first one I pulled out of the "OK" pile. Cleaned it, put it on the TT, and it's much better than I expected. Frankly, was expecting it to be a train wreck. But it's not. It's a rocker, with Steve Vai featured on guitar.

Coleman Hawkins, Steve Winwood, Doors 45 rpm, Greensleeves ( Impex ), etc…
Always nice to visit and listen.

Fruit Bats "the Pet Parade"

Steve, I’m guessing that Live @ will sound amazing!
Brian, I’m picturing a bit of a character. Is that even close? I would call meeting him an experience, to put it mildly. Better a privilege, and I’m not much for being anyone’s fanboy.

@bslon I'm a long time fan. Met him a bunch of times.

Well, my music friend and I watched some of Get Back yesterday. We ended up helping one another out with life issues, our watching time was cut short. I did readjust his Ortofon Cadenza Black MC and tweek this speaker and sub alignment and setting. We decided to start with the second segment. While it is nice to seem them young and the kind of loose way they committed themselves to end product was interesting to me. It was a slow moving segment. The SQ was really nice. I thought, why couldn’t they get Ringo’s drums to sound/sound more prominent on their early recordings? Interesting that they all called Ringo, Richie. By his real name.
What we thought was funny was John's showing the camera , in his way, his unhappiness about having to introduce the Stones at their upcoming TV special.

@noromance Lots of interesting stories about Roy Harper, on FB&B he used a wah-wah pedal with his acoustic guitar on Hell’s Angels for an effect. Also cool he was the vocalist for PF’s Have A Cigar. His music’s a nice change-up for me on occasion.
@slaw You be pushing my button lately (in a good way), first with The Church and now I’m reminded to spin my long lost copy of Moby Grape. That’s what I like about this thread!
|
Hey Bill,
Speaking of The Church, I have a gold stamped promo of Remote Luxury that I need to clean and listen to soon.

@bslon Not many around here playing Roy. I played it at AXPONA in the Acora room. I think it was Jeffery Catalano's copy.
