Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1

Dave Davies - "ALF1-3603"

From the latest Plaid Room Haul

2/3 of the way through the LP. So far, I gotta say its a mess. Horrible recording IMHO. The vocals are recorded very oddly. They sound out-of-phase or have some other type of processing that makes them sound awful.

This one's likely going into the "to trade/to sell" pile for recycling...

Oingo Boingo “Only A Lad” A&M 1981

Grouper “Shade” Kranky 2021

Pretenders “s/t” Sire 1980

Rising Storm “Alive Again At Andover” Arf Arf 1983

Martha And The Muffins “Metro Music” Dindisc UK 1980 (might have had this on recently but may not have finished it)

..she can understand the problems

she let the little things go .

Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers "Hard Promises"

MCA Masterphile Series, mastered at half-speed

1981

Ugly Casanova / Sharpen your teeth

This is highly recommended for "Modest Mouse" fans. Very good indeed!

I reached into the on-deck bin and pulled out that Jason Isbell and the 400 unit Georgia Blue randomly. Steve, it sounds really good. At least it was, until my girlfriend called and I had to hit the pause button.

The Andy Williams Christmas Album

It’s a nice change-up during the holidays. Andy, Perry, Bing, Frank, Dean, the Carpenters—all good! The classics, I mean. Especially so at Christmas. Cheers!

Well Steve, even the Robots have need of a Prophet….

i am an equalized robot in a tone control world

“ we are programmed to receive, you can check out … but you can never leave “

sorry I was busy miking the orchestra pit

I understand Steve - Georgia Blue cover art is sublime

Chuck Prophet "Brother Aldo"

Fire Records/1990/EU

This, my second listen is very positive. I always dug him. Never see others mentioning.

I'm a Chuck Prophet programmed robot. How's that one Jim?

Pete Townshend/Ronnie Lane - Rough Mix. Polydor 1977, New Zealand release

As Little Village had Ry Cooder on it, it reminded me of another LP with Ry I have not listened to for a while….

Norman Greenbaum - Petaluma. Reprise 1972

Yea Steve, this is nice. Seems to be getting better as it goes along.

Unfortunately there is a small imperfection on the last song/side 1, but not bad really. It is/was a new sealed copy, so goodness knows why these things happen. US release/reissue.

Was streaming the Berlin Philharmonic live. Mehta conducting Mahler’s No. 3. Incredible.

Now back to vinyl. This just arrived today, recommended by some friends I truly trust.

Ry Cooder/John Hiatt/Jim Keltner/Nick Lowe - Little Village. Reprise reissue 2019, originally 1992

@sbank,

Spencer, I thought I had all of Laura Veirs......never heard of "Saltbreakers"

@slaw Steve, you're costing my money again! Gillian Welch/David Rawlings "All the Good Times" added to my list.

After a week long workathon, let's get this staycation party started with:

J. Geils Band - Bloodshot (of course it's red vinyl, 🙄)

Laura Veirs - Saltbreakers

Herbie Hancock - Maiden Voyage (Blue Note Classic...$25 bargain!)

FWIW: I decided to replace my original Roxy Music Avalon 1982 LP since there are some reissues out (Czech Republic). The first I received (from Amazon) had some brown goop on the surface I could not remove so I returned it for a second copy. This also had the dried goop (not as much) but also some raised vinyl ridges crossing the grooves. Abhorrent quality control, getting refunded.
