Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1
yes, I never buy anything below mint or near mint, I never relax that rule, and i read a lot of the feedback. in about 100 transactions , two were clearly fraudulent and i took them to task in the feedback and thru discogs help.

one idiot who runs an antique shop in Sedona sent me a trashed album. I told him it was two or three grades below how he rated it and filthy and I asked for a refund of the difference in value and that he donate that refund to a local food bank...he tried to whack me with negative feedback, he lost that war...

The above (lp) is surprisingly good and of exceptionally great sound quality. A rarity, these days.
Slaw
Just back in the land of the semi living.
No it was not a test... Lol.
Apparently they made the same triple liner version with a black label too but looks like that was for a different European market than the German red label version.
Highly confusing!
@big_greg,

The AC/DC box I mentioned the other week......
I saw a sealed copy this week.....AC/DC Collection/2003 all studio lps through "Razors Edge" + Live lp list @ $1100.00 on sale @ $740.00.

WOW!
Just held up to a light, my EU copy of "Achtune Baby" and it is translucent like the JVC vinyl.
 @slaw the Old Kit bag is an absolute gem... and like most RT has a dark side for sure

you guys are all such great music masters, this is without doubt my favorite Audiogon thread and micro community
@slaw - I took another listen of "Demons and Wizards" today, in a better frame of mind, and it sounded much better. Took a look at Discogs and found it is an early US Mercury Bronze release. I'm not an expert on LP Labels, runout markings, etc., but here is what is on my copy:

Label variation: Red Label with Philips, Mercury, and Vertigo logos at the bottom of the label and Bronze logo in the center.

Matrix / Runout (Side A Stamped): SRM-1-630A-M1 GK

Really enjoying it. To me, several of the cuts sound similar to another band I really enjoy - Procol Harum.

Wth??
I say WTH?????

The Heep album I just put on is NOT, I REPEAT NOT Heep at all!

The label is Heep with correct song list but when I looked at it I thought odd as it was just two tracks on the side 1 and should be four.

No idea who or what it is but some type of jazz/swing crap. On side 1.
Side 2 is indeed Heep as per the listing.

I have heard of mispressings but seriously?
Jazz one side, Heep the other???

How the heck can this be????

Never ever had this before!!

😠😠😠😠😠😠
Google returns zero results for a mispress of this album so really stumped now.
And annoyed!!

Unless of course it turns out to be worth thousands........
@uberwaltz  - Maybe you lucked into a very rare misprint that's worth thou$ands! Could be your lucky day! Or it could just be worthless crap.
@reubent .

My fervent hope is it is worth some money, all the best songs were on side 1, 😆.

However not sure how I find anything about it as no hits on the net.

Anyone know of a specialised site for mispressed albums?
After that debacle I played the German pressing which was correct and superb.

Now a nice album I recently picked up.

The Island Story 1962-1987
25th Anniversary.

Some sweet cuts on this.
The Kinks ‎– Preservation Act 1 (RCA Victor 1973)

Elvis Costello and Allen Toussaint - The River in Reverse (Verve 2006)
@tomic601 ,

Thanks for the compliment. We're glad to have you here buddy.
.............................
@reubent ,

Glad you're enjoying  the lp now.
@tomic601 I enjoy this thread a lot. Everyone seems to leave their ego at the door. This thread gives me ideas about what to check out next or reminds to pull something out of the bins that I haven't listened to in a while.
@reubent .

Glad you like Demons and Wizards.
That , Magicians Birthday and Look at Yourself are my top 3 Heep Albums with July Morning probably my all time fave track.

But....
I don’t think I have ever heard them compared to Procul Harum before.
Which got me thinking of course.

You might have something there......

Btw
I do not know enough about anything to have an ego......

😁😁😁
@uberwaltz - I don't think songs like "The Wizard" and "Easy Livin" sound like Procol Harum. But some of the cuts, like "Circle of Hands" and "Paradise" do sound reminiscent of Procol Harum.
Ego is a learning block

going to stream some Heep on Tidal tonight, Procul I got on analog, but ya I can see my way to it....

fun
Currently cleaning Uriah Heep "Wonderworld" and Van Halen "Diver Down". I don't think I've ever played "Wonderworld" before.

Welcome @dutchydog,

You reminded me that I wanted to listen to some Weezer this weekend.
I must dig out some 'Heep. I know I've ten or so albums in there.

Tom Waits - Swordfishtrombones (Island 1983)

Julia Lee & Her Boy Friends, A Porter's Love Song (Jukebox 1985)
I also have Uriah Heep "Fallen Angel"....I know I've played it before but really don't remember it. It will be cleaned later for a listen.
Both of the "Heep" lps I own that I mentioned earlier ...I'm 99% sure they are re-issues. "Wonderworld" was very enjoyable with 3 really good songs on it.

"Diver Down" is next.
My copy of "Diver Down" is a Columbia House pressing. First time I've listened to it in around 35 years. SQ is fine, the soundstage doesn't extend past the center of the speakers though.

Up next Weezer "S/T" (blue) MFSL
