@jek05 Welcome to this thread. It is fabulous and you will have fun. I look forward to your contributions, too. An early '80s album. You can really tell it was the early dawn of digital recording. But I do enjoy the music. INXS - Shabooh Shoobah A couple of premium MoFi albums I got over the past couple of months. Great music and outstanding mastering/pressing. ELO - Eldorado Alan Parsons Project - Eye In The Sky |

@mammothguy54 for sure, keep in touch on that. Austin is not much of a diversion off I10 and likely a nice break Charles Lloyd and the Marvels - One Poem - Tone Poet Nathan Davis - Sam Records |
@65-gto @sbank Hey guys, next year, around August, I will be flying to Tallahassee. My son is finishing his PhD at FSU by then and I will join him to travel back to Southern California. We will be driving in his car, taking the I-10 all the way. Austin is not far from the I-10 as we pass through Texas. I know it's a year away, but if it works out, we can stop by and say hello. And of course, listen to a few tunes before we are on our way again. I'll keep in touch. |
Some days our systems seem to sound better than others. Today is one of those really good days. Yeah! @6t5-gto You in Austin? Ping me, bro, ping me! |
@boxer12 I have a few cartridges, mostly mc carts, however I had my Clearaudio Virtuoso on the SL-1200 MK2 just before I tried the Stanton. Based on my audio memory, not back to back listening to the same album, I would say the Stanton has a little more body and images a little better. Maybe a little bit more leaning towards an "airier" presentation than the clearaudio, but not "bright", just a little more detail and treble emphasis. Bass isn't as solid as the Clearaudio, but it's tight. Haven't really messed with VTA yet, dropping the tail might change that a bit. Started with recommended 1.5 G VTF, I've read some recommend going heavier. It seems more "musical" than the Virtuoso. I like it so far. |
@big_greg - How does the Stanton compare (in regard to SQ) to your other cartridges? I'm currently switching between a couple MM/MI cartridges (Empire 2000Z / Clearaudio Virtuoso) on my table. |
