Only GTR(edgy/sharp digital sound) and Melanie(noise floor/hazy) were distracting. Nazareth(original pressing) was a pleasant surprise, borderline Audiophile SQ. The SQ crown goes to the Soviet recorded Borodin Quartet.

Billy Cobham Glass Menagerie and Allman Brothers Live at the Fillmore. Washed both of them with my new Degritter---all good!!

My record shelf has a decent share of the records I see in this thread.  The Mozart Karl Bohm DG record. The Antal Dorati Haydn. Joni Mitchell's  Clouds. Blondie's Eat to the Beat. And we're only talkin' about this particular page... In other words, I humbly say good listenin' galore!

just got a copy of Daniel Barenboim Mozart Piano Concertos - 12 LPs. Finally got thru all 12 of them on Sunday. WOW. Great sound and great music. EMI/Decca in about 1960 I think.

And Beethoven 9 Symphonies with Karl Bohm conducting Wiener Symphony. another wow.

Love this thread.

Primary

You know its good when your dog gets up, walks into the room to hear it.  And then leaves when its over.

Byrds -- Sweetheart of the Rodeo. LP.  Bought the first day it hit the stores. Saw 'em at the Troubadour either just before or just after the LP was released.

Truth be told, a couple of Vintage pieces whom haven’t seen the light of day for some time were played last night. Yamaha CR - 620 & YP - D6 with Sumiko Blue Point No. 2 (I’ve always dug the sound characteristics of this entry level cart). What struck me most as I sat there and listened for a few hours is how decent the “Sound” in comparison to, all the dinero I’ve invested towards having a better digital front-end over the years.

George Thorogood-Bad To The Bone Side 2

The Call-Reconciled(white label promo) Side 2 SQ*

Al Jarreau-Breakin’ Away Side 1 SQ*

Vern Gosdin-Chiseled In Stone Side 1

Bruce Springsteen-Born In The U.S.A. Side 1

The Motels-Shock Side 2

Harry Connick Jr.-20 Side 1 SQ Audiophile

SVR-Couldn’t Stand The Weather Side 2 SQ Audiophile

As mentioned it was 1980’s night. Nothing had below average SQ tonight, Even Bruce had decent SQ. Jarreau/Call had near Audiophile SQ. Pure 80’s country does not get any better than Vern. Shock a must for Motels Fans. The SQ crown goes to SVR for stellar content and near demo level SQ.

Ahmad Jamal - Live At The Montreal Jazz Festival 1985

Atlantic 2LP gatefold 1986

Wynton Marsalis - Wynton

Who’s Who in Jazz 1983

Recorded at Bubba’s with Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers October 11, 1980. One of the versions of Wynton’s first recordings. They are all great.

The Modern Jazz Quartet - The Last Concert

Atlantic 2LP gatefold 1975

Thankfully, it was not their last concert, and I was lucky enough to see them in the 80’s

Holly Golightly And The Brokeoffs – Dirt Don't Hurt (Damaged Goods 2008)

Buy this.
