I have the DH cones under my Capitole in which it sits on a marble slaps. |
I use a maple cutting board from Bed Bath and Beyond. My cd player is supported by three tip toes on top of the board. |

Stock feet. Last thing I'm going to change are the feet of my Aleph P or EMC-1 MkII. |
Harmonic Resolution Systems Nimbus isolation pucks replaced the Symposium rollers under my Sony SACD player. HRS is worth checking out. www.avisolation.com |
I noticed a few rooms at Alexis Park had "flatulence." |
I could lie & say I've got something exotic, but no...just Audioquest sorbothane pucks (old school ones from about 10 years ago). |
I have tried a number of isolation products including Vibrapods, sorbothane, Solid Tech 'Feet of Silence', bicycle innertubes, maple boards, MDF, Isobearings, brass cones, wood blocks, and Isolpads, which all had varying degrees of isolation and each has their pros and cons. Although there are many I have not used, the best so far has been the Neuance shelf. |
Neuance! (under the amp too!) |
After reading all the posts, I've purchased and installed (tonite) the 'new' Nuance "bad boy" isolation device.
It's thicker than the Alpha or Beta.
Supported it like subaruguru did, with the included stock threaded spikes that I drilled/tapped into the Walnut shelf of my cabinet.
It looks cool, but OK, how do I tell if it's really doing anything to the sound?
JBatlanta |
I've experimented with foam pads of various densities, with mixed results. Now that my CD player is enclosed in a heavy custom oak cabinet, with nothing under it except the stock feet and the oak shelf, it sounds better than ever. |
JBatlanta, Now that it's installed allow the whole set up to sit with no tweaking for at least four days. The Nueance needs to settle in to each alteration of support. After a few disks you'll know! Take it out and listen, the change is easy to hear. |
Poor man's isolation. Buy a mouse pad from computer store, cut it to the right size. put it under your CD player or turntable (you can double or tripple if necessary). Always remember to level your player. One or two dollars and 10 min of work. |
Squash balls, cut in half... |
Good idea, Loose. However , if you put the squash balls in the centre of the vibrapods they hold in place quite well and you don't have to cut them in two....cheers |

Interesting read, Cde. Thanks for that. |
How about aluminum honeycomb composite panels?????? enter part number 8458K31Also available in ABS and polypropylene. Maybe this could work under speakers too. |

I just ordered from Mapleshade, 15X18X4 custom mapleshade PLatform with Heavyhat Vibe Killers Triplepoint Set and Surefoot Triplepoint Cones. Go to the Mapleshade web site and read the reviews.

I use Aurio 1.2s under my GamuT CD1R with 1/4 inch maple board between CDP and Aurio to dampen metal to metal resonance which works well for me. I also use the JPS Labs Digital AC PC which isolates the digital and filters out digital grunge. |
I took Brent's recommendations from Star Sound Technologies and purchased Audiopoints to put under my Arcam FMJ23T cd player and under my Essence amp. They took my system to a new level. I'm now a believer! |
I use a 3/4 inch slab of polished granite on DH ceramic cones and squares. I also use my heavy DAC to mass load the CDP by sitting it on top of the CDP.
