Cars. What does the typical audiophile drive?
My car's a Yugo. I can't afford anything else. All of my money is in my system :-)
I'm confused. Need direction on analogue system
I think you would get better sound and more flexibility from a separate phono stage. Maybe you could list your price range and ppl can recommend one.

SURPRISE This is a pretty dang good LP
If you haven't seen it, there are a lot of great sounding Lps on audio annex recommended recordings. http://www.audioannex.com/AAxRRs.htm
What are your "reference" CDs?
Lucinda Williams "Car wheels on a gravel road" Miles Davis of course "Kind of blue"Karrin Allyson "Remembering John Coltrane"
Need a good used tube pre $1500 or less
A Audible Illusions Modulus 3a sounds great and has a phono stage if you need one. If you don't need phono, mebbe a conrad johnson Prenier 14 would do it for you.
alternatives to spikes on wood floors?
Some people use big round furniture glides instead of spikes. They're cheap at Home Depot.
10 sonically best rock recordings ?
There's a lot of good sounding rock recordings here, but I haven't posted any myself. At least not yet ;-)http://www.audioannex.com/AAxRRs2.htm#rock
Is the Dunlavy SC-3A's a good speaker for HT?
I believe the SC-III and the SC-IIIA are very different designs. As far as I know none of Dunlavy speakers have ever been ported including the Cantana.
Best sounding music
Take a look at the Audio Annex recommended recordings page. They update it all the time.
Dedicated line question
With more dedicated lines you'll hear a blacker background, less noise and more detail. Make sure to avoid ground loops though.
How do you store a whole lotta LP's?

Best speaker new or used 2,000 for ROCK?
I'd like to second the recommendation for Paradigm Studio 100 and PSB Stratus Gold. Both speakers are great for rock music.
What's your favorite instrument to listen to....
I really like the sound of an acoustic guitar. Solo piano is great too.
