Evett Shaw Elan monitor in main system May I ask which of the three speakers you currently use are your favourites and why? I own two of the three mentioned, so i'm curious. I used to use nothing but Canadian and U.S speakers, but over the past ten years or so, it's been mostly British...
Evett Shaw Elan monitor in main system Of your current three, which do you like the most? (I own two of the three on your current list).Once upon a time, I always used Canadian or U.S. speakers. The past 10 years or so have been pretty much British all the way.I'm curious what people h...
blown amp - vintage speaker the culprit? amp problem, yes. User error? No. The amp was just sent in for service. Faulty output transistor as well as a problem with the power relay.thanks for your input, guys (even from the finger-pointers ;) )
Now that my amp's blown... The Wadia 151 Power DAC does look interesting, from what i've read, although i don't think it would work for me, given its limitations. I like the idea of something like this in another application, mind you. Cool chit.

blown amp - vintage speaker the culprit? Elizabeth, there was no short in the wiring at all. Everything was powered down, the amp unplugged from the wall. The speakers were the only things swapped (and i have pin connectors, so no bare/ frayed wires were crossing over). Not to mention, t...
Is the EPI 100 an 8ohm load? Thanks, Arh! I was on that page earlier, but didn't see the spec sheet... only the review portion.
blown amp - vintage speaker the culprit? Hi Apache,It's possible that the caps are that out of spec, i suppose, since they are about forty years old or so, if i'm not mistaken. The amp is not a DIY or boutique amp; it's an old british amp that's been modified (better caps, point to point...

Speakers for Sansui AU-666 Back to this older thread, I've been looking at a pair of ADS L710 speakers and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on that pairing (with the Sansui AU666 integrated, that is).
Capacitor Size It actually sounds good, to be fair. But the fact is, I didn't have it in my possession w/ the original caps long enough to be able to notice a significant difference. Further, my speakers are very limited in the lower frequencies, so any improvem...
Capacitor Size I know that the capacitors he used were not particularly expensive/ high end, as he stated that they would still be an improvement over the old ones. I've physically tried to look at the capacitors' specs, but can't read what it says on the cap b/... |
