What's in your CDP tonight? the minority report

I enjoy vinyl and digital (lately, with recent changes, vinyl actually sounds better than digital to me), BUT given what seems an overall preference for analog/vinyl on A'gon, I'm curious what the non-vinyl "1/2" is listening to. I tried to see if this was a previously posted question. Did not seem so.

This evening for me, it's Genesis (definitive edition remaster) "A Trick of the Tail".

@nutty

I First saw them on Austin City Limits about 15 yrs ago. Fell in love with every aspect. I have all 3 of their album. All good. Good Day is fantastic. I wish they had recorded more

artemus_5

I recently purchased the Storyville, A Piece of your Soul CD. Solid effort by them.
I like " It’s A Good Day For The Blues". Also caught their show on Astin City Limits. Great vocals not to mention the legendary rhythem section.

Amon Duul II - Dance Of The Lemmings. Great psychedelic German rock from 1970! Rare!
I'm very happy with my vinyl version George but that's a good result for CD.
More Joe Walsh, from "...the Player You Get"
Lots of great tracks on this one.  For me...

A welcome respite from the McLaughlin and Mahavishnu that were just playing (Industrial Zen and Inner Mounting Flame, respectively). YEESH. Talk about "agita" inducing. Industrial Zen does have some rewarding moments despite drums that are way too loud in the mix and an annoying vocal on a couple of tracks.
Thanks to @Mahgister.
Chopin Nocturnes - Ivan Moravec

If the world were really ending (as some seem to think) this is the music to be listening to:  sublime beauty, order, and transcendent peace in the face of uncertainty and chaos.

@ghosthouse, Paul Jones was in only the original Manfred Mann line up, the first four albums, I believe. He sang the early hits like "Do Wah Diddy Diddy", and left the band in the middle of '66.

Manfred Mann was very different from the other British Invasion bands, being distinctly Jazz and R & B driven. Little known fact: Jack Bruce was a member for awhile!

@bdp24
Thanks for the comments.  Another case of "concert-envy".  Well, 2 out of 3 ain't bad.  Don't get me started about Steve Winwood.  Agree with you - one of the greatest rock vocalists (and not a bad GITtar player either...not only organ).  Don't know Paul Jones.  Are you positive about the Manfred Mann connection? (aka Manfred Mann's Earthband).  All I can remember by them was Blinded By The Light (that is one Springsteen song I really hate) and Quinn The Eskimo.  Don't remember their vocalist lighting things up for me.
@ghosthouse, I feel lucky to have seen Van perform live when he was still in Them. It was in a small club in San Jose, California, 1967 iirc, though it may have been late '66. He, Stevie Winwood, and Paul Jones (Manfred Mann) were the best singers of the British Invasion bands.
@dougsat
Have not heard Three Chords.  I probably have more Van Morrison than any other artist (well, except maybe Dylan) but not that one.  The latest Van M. I spent a lot of time with was Keep It Simple (2008).  I have Born To Sing from 2012, but little time with it.

I get in modes (weeks) where I'm listening to a LOT of Van.   I keep going back to Common One, Poetic Champions, No Guru...No Teacher, Back On Top & The Healing Game.  Pulling out Moondance today was the first time in a long time.

Pretty certain there are other releases along with Three Chords that I have missed since Keep It Simple.  I'll try to remember to check out Three Chords on Tidal tomorrow.  Thanks for the suggestion.

Van's output is amazing and while the critics haven't liked it all - for me, I could probably listen to him sing the phone book and be happy.

@ghosthouse

Love Van Morrison - Moondance is a classic. Hey have you had a chance to listen to his latest?
3 Chords and the Truth.

My appreciation for The new one has really grown on me with repeated listens.
it’s amazing how much good much he has put out and is still putting out over his long career.
Van Morrison - Moondance
Haven’t listened to this in ages. Sounds as good as when first heard on FM 50 years ago. Timeless.

Nutty explained by pm to me.

And he gave me yet another band to check out, another Mike Portnoy lineup.

Liquid Tension Experiment.

So much great music,so little time!
"Is Nutty going by Woobie as well??"

Looks that way...noting the 'N' beneath his post and the fact that I had recently shot him an email after sampling Blind Ego/Liquid that you had posted about.  He's a big Dream Theater and Spock's Beard fan so it seemed like it might work for him.

I wish Spotify would step up their game.  They have a great library.  I like their GUI & uncluttered desktop.  Most of all, their new music recommendation (Browse/Discover) function works like a charm.  Have discovered a lot of new music based on recommendations from Spotify.
Ghost
Btw I cannot take any credit for Liquid.
It was a track that appeared in one of my Spotify daily mixes.

So good old Spotify to credit.

And another band called Mystery but I cannot find anything on Tidal or Qobuz for them........
😲😲
Is Nutty going by Woobie as well??
😲😲.

Ghost
Yes I read the same stuff but likewise none of those names were familiar.
Not bad for a solo side project I must say!
Hello Gents -
Good find from uber on Blind Ego on the basis of SQ if nothing more - though I think there is.

Looked up the band. It’s the "solo" project of Kalle Wallner (new name to me) from RPWL. RPWL a quasi-Floyd tribute band as per one reviewer. RPWL’s output might be something more to explore.

I only listened to the studio version of Liquid. Looks like there is a live version too. Haven’t got to Mirror or Preaching to the Choir yet. The good news for me is I got through the whole of Liquid in one go. Not too much new-to-me-stuff that holds my interest all the way through (and I do regret that). Am interested in re-listening and exploring the other releases as well as KW’s RPWL stuff.

Thanks u.

Good sounds from the Neal Morse Band on that Man in the Iron Cage video, Nutty. Good message too. Excellent playing (and singing) all around.  Not just his singing but what about the guitar solo from that kid.  Where does Neal find these guys??? (well, apart from Portnoy).  Didn’t know old Neal could rock that hard ;-).
uberwaltz, ghosthouse,
Listening to Blind Ego, Liquid Mirrors. Great production on Liquid. Song on Mirrors has a Pink Floyd vibe.

uberwaltz,
I'm glad to see your spinning more Spocks Beard!

Check out This track from The Neal Morse band. "The Man In The Iron Cage". Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater on drums. Check out the vocals on the kid on the chorus!
