What area or country do you live in ?

It's always interesting hearing members choices and opinions of equipment and set-ups on here. So many times, I have never even heard of equipment that is mentioned, only to find out that this person in living in another county from mine. I thought it would be interesting to see where we all live

I'll start

Southeastern Ohio, USA

nitrobob
Cleveland(Hudson Ohio)  Home of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  These  comments sound like the the local chamber of commerce. Including mine. .
@tomic601 We have a group that meets monthly at Desco Audio in Olympia to listen to music (usually the third Wednesday).  We meet for dinner nearby beforehand.  The person that started the group lives in Seattle, you might be able to car pool.  Look for Olympia Music Club group on Facebook.
Washington, DC. Anyone in this area should visit the original DejaVu Audio. They now have locations in Florida and SoCAL.
Now in Valencia, Spain. Way better than California! Formerly in Carlsbad, California
I am from Bolgheri, a beautiful medieval village in the heart of Tuscany, in Italy. Nowadays famous for the quality of red wines that is produced here
The Biggest Little City in the World!

Reno, NV (currently living right outside in Sparks, NV)

They have a saying here - "Reno is so close to hell, you can see Sparks!"

Home of ZERO brick’n mortar hi-fi shops, but we do have Reno-Hifi (Pass Labs dealer, and Mark is a great guy & family friend).

Woodridge, Illinois just a bit west of Chicago.  Current temperature is 5 degrees Fahrenheit.
Listening to Trio Da Paz guitar through tube integrated so double toasty warm.
Kalamazoo, Michigan
Original home of Gibson Guitars.......and lake-effect snow

I'm in the Navy. At the moment I'm based in Japan.

Japan has these interesting stores called "hard-off" which always seem to have rare and esoteric hi-fi equipment. I got a Technics SE-A3 amplifier and 3 way set of Goto Unit horn drivers for very reasonable prices.

Soon I'll be transferring to Norfolk VA and hopefully there will be some sort of audiophile community there I can get with.

SoCal, Orange County, Irvine. 71 degrees today and sunny but damn it gets down to 47 at night!
For the Seattle area crowd, when the weather improves a bit I could host a smaller get together listening event....
send me a PM if interested and I will work something up
@cheeg try Orange County Audio Society
ring me up if you get down here Carlsbad way
Sacramento CA.  I live 40 minutes drive from Pass Labs(I have Pass Amp and Preamp). I have watched them build the equipment and of course meet Nelson. I am also 20 minutes from MIT( all my cables are MIT). Love my city.
SoCal, more specifically OC.

And minutes from the indespencible Excel Audio.
The weather is never nasty in Northern Michigan. Just north of Petoskey. When off the grid, vinyl is the way to go!
Great thread nitrobob
Music and gear lovers all over the states and the world.
Gives me reason to think things aren’t quite as bad as they seem.  I toured the great Mayan ruins site of Tikal in Guatemala yesterday.   A bit of culture shock crept in, but our guide told us of his love of music and dancing, reminding me of the universal love and power of music.

Lafayette Louisiana, the heart of "Cajun Country".  Not so great for access to gear, but man what a great place to be for music.  You can't throw a stick in this town without hitting a Grammy winner, plus NOLA is just 2 hours away. Oh and we have a fantastic local record shop.
tomfoolery13 posts01-24-2019 11:18amBurlington, Vt. 45 miles from the Canadian border.

>>>>One wonders if you can smell the marijuana from Burlington.
Just outside of Boston MA. Tomfoolery - my oldest son goes to UVM. We love Burlington, tempted to retire there.

Las Cruces, New Mexico. Moved here from Seattle to retire. Sorry to say the nearest  HI-FI  shops are in El Paso, TX ( 45 Minute trip) and  Albuquerque, NM ( 3 Hour trip). I miss Seattle where I could visit shops during my lunch break.
Near Olympia, WA

I was with some audio enthusiast friends last night and we were talking about some of the companies here in Washington - Modwright, Parks Audio, Carver, Shunyata, Blue Jeans Cable... I'm sure there are more I'm not thinking of.
South Africa where we had a heatwave most of the summer so far. Lived in the USA from 1998-2008. The exchange rate is not in our favor so hifi is a luxury. Just bought a Musical Fidelity MX dac and will have to cut back on every thing to survive. LOL
The sound difference is significant and the redbook cds sound like top class SACDs. Using a Oppo DV-981HD and a Sony DVP-S9000ES. I so wish that there was a way to push the SACD's through this DAC.
@jsandman

I'm not too far from you, nitrobob: I've settled in the Pittsburgh, PA area. Although I had lived in multiple states from coast to coast

My son just started a new job in Pittsburgh; he moved there from the Jersey Shore.   How do you like Pittsburgh?   I get the sense it has done an awesome job of reinventing itself after the winding down of  the steel industry.
