Santana - Blessings and Miracles, Qobuz Hi-Res. The opening seems to be a re-imagining of Abraxas and the rest of the album, with all the guest appearances, seems like an attempt at another Supernatural, neither of which are necessarily bad things. His playing is as good as ever and there are some great tunes. |
Lilly Hiatt - Lately, Qobuz Hi-Res, some great songwriting and excellent performances. |
Joy Crookes - Skin, Qobuz Hi-Res. Her voice reminds me of Amy Winehouse. |
I heard an MP3 and I liked it! |
@big_greg… wow, balls of steel admitting you are listening to a lowly MP3. Dang! :-) |
Radio Paradise, Bluesound Node MQA… really fun way to randomly discover music! |
Beck - Sea Change, Qobuz. OMG, it's MP3! |
Bob Dylan - "Murder Most Foul"
An Epic! |
Checking out the new stuff on Qobuz today... Craig Taborn - Shadow Plays |
Chantel Chamberland big various mix. Killer voice! |
Neil Young - Carnegie Hall 1970. Acoustic solo Neil. Pretty cool! |
It's Monday! Must be my new Spotify Discover Weekly playlist! Pretty good this week, so far. Already saved a couple of discoveries to my "Discovered" playlist. BTW, my "Discovered" playlist is now up to 245 songs I discovered via my weekly Spotified Discover Weekly Playlist. |
Steely Dan - Northeast Corridor: Steely Dan Live!, Qobuz Hi-Res |
An evening with France Gall:
- Concert Public/Concert Privé!
The "acoustic" part one is a beautiful live recording.

I broke down and decided to give Roon a try. I picked up a Roon Nucleus so that I could use it as a streamer and move my Aqua La Voce S3 DAC into my main system. My two TEAC NT-505 streamer/DACs became Roon endpoints and one moved to my computer system.
I listened to a bunch of reference tracks last night and have to say that the interface is a lot better than BubbleUPnP and the Lumin app. Roon brings my ripped library, Qobuz, and Tidal into one interface (no more switching from Qobuz to Tidal to foobar2000 when listening on the computer) and I can use my best DAC in my main system. I also like how it offers a "radio" option and more information about what you're listening to.
This morning it "suggested" the new Yes release - Quest. As much as I dislike the idea of paying just for the software to listen to my music sources when they all come with free software and BubbleUPnP was less than 5 bucks, I have to admit Roon is pretty cool. Which I'm sure a lot of you already know. I'm just stubborn sometimes. |
Donald Fagen's - The Nightfly Live, Qobuz Hi-Res. Why this isn't featured on the front page of Qobuz' new releases is beyond me. |
Sitting here listening to Kenny Burrell, "Midnight Blue" 24/192 Qobuz. The sound stage is so wide the music is coming beside and slightly behind both ears. One of these moments that you wish you could share it with someone else but I'm all alone, sipping a fresh ground Sumatra Guyo black. God Life is good. We are blessed. |
Spotify Discover Weekly. Wow, good week. Had some real winners and lots of decent stuff. Added 5 new tracks to my "Discovered" playlist. |
Samantha Fish- "Faster".

Buena Vista Social Club 25th Anniversary Edition, Qobuz Hi-Res. This sounds great! What a treasure. |
Son Volt - "Electro Melodier" - again!
Saw Son Volt last Saturday night. They played several songs off of this latest release. They sounded great! |
Lindsey Buckingham - S/T, Qobuz Hi-Res. |
Solem Quartet - The Four Quarters, Qobuz Hi-Res. |
|
Adia Victoria - A Southern Gothic, Qobus Hi-Res. Check this one out! |
Candlebox - Wolves, Qobuz. I like most of this, but it's a little uneven, like maybe they are trying out different genres and not sure who they are in 2021. |
Son Volt - "Electro Melodier" |
Pat Metheny - From This Place, Qobuz Hi-Res |
Monophonics - It's Only Us (instrumental) on Qobuz hi-res. Fantastic album. |
On DSCH - Igor Levit, Qobuz Hi-Res
|
Moloch via TIDAL. It was their only album, was released in 1969. Going Down was first released on that LP. I ordered the LP from Craft they released a new remaster recently. |
Martina Topley Bird - Forever I Wait, Qobuz Hi-Res. It's hard (for me) not to make comparisons to her work with Tricky, but this stands up really well on its own.
|
Lady Blackbird "Black Acid Soul" on Qobuz (24/44.1)
Impressive debut to say the least. |
Bardo Pond - Dilate. A nice discovery from the What's On Your Turntable thread. |
|
Sarah Jarosz - Blue Heron Suite, Qobuz Hi-Res
|
Thanks Jim, I'll check it out. |
Beethoven Piano Concerto 4 & 5 Emperor Royal Philharmomic Orchestra
|
her Blue Heron Suite is a personal fave and a great liner note story… |
I've seen her mentioned a few times, but wasn't familiar with her. Good stuff! |
ditto on the Sarah J Greg |
Sarah Jarosz - Build Me Up from Bones, Qobuz
|
Another Side of John Coltrane, Qobuz |
I listened to the new Lorde album on Qobuz yesterday, kind of in the backgroud, not serious listening. I liked it, she is really talented. Looking forward to sitting down for a serious listen.
Before that I listened to Leslie Winer - When I Hit You — You'll Feel It on Qobuz. Lots of social commentary and some very cool "trip-hop", it brought Massive Attack to mind in some ways.
Currently listening to Disclosure - Never Enough EP on Qobuz with the headphones. Good stuff. This would be better on the main system with some subwooferage. |
Madeleine Peyroux - Secular Hymns, Qobuz Hi-Res. Fabulous!
|
Sheryl Crow - Live From the Ryman And More, Qobuz Hi-Res. |
|

all things are

lovely! |
Brian May - Back to the Light, Qobuz Hi-Res. This sounds really dated, which makes sense since it was released in 1993. It sounds more like 1980. As much as I love Queen and Brian May's amazing guitar playing, I couldn't really get into this. |
