Weird DVD Player Problem

Hello, I recently purchased a Carmen II dvd player. I connected it and I have great picture and the music and sound effects on the DVD are great but I have no sound from anyone talking. Any thoughts on what this problem could be? I even changed the digital cable from SPDIF to AES/EBU, did not fix the problem. I have tried all kinds of setup changes.

Last week I move my receiver from one shelf to another.
When I reconnected the speaker wire, I connected it to "Front L&R B" instead of "Front L&R A".
Watched a lot of movie "Heat" without knowing this.
Tip off was when Pacino's shotgun blasts at DeNiro had no transients -only bass and pellets hitting their mark.
Doh!
If you haven't done so already, go into the DVD player menu for audio and check that the center channel is turned on to either larger or small. Also make sure your receiver also has the center channel turned on and it not set on phantom center mode.
Do you have a multi-channel HT setup or a 2-channel setup? It sounds like you have the DVD player set up for multi-channel output, but don't have the system (or the setup) to support it.

Almost all dialog comes from the center channel in a multi-channel setup. If you don't have center channel output and are sending Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS from the DVD player, you will not get the dialog.

It is useless to speculate until you tell us about your system. What is the setup? 2-channel or multi-channel? What electronics and speakers are you using, etc.?
