I knew the prices on this equipment were going to blow up, but it is pretty cool to see it on the market so people can experience it.
I have a TIA 3012A running a pair of Cambridge Audio SX50 bookshelfs. It’s probably a bit overkill for what I’m using it for (mostly quiet jazz and classical), but it works great. At some point I’d love it o pick up some other Tandberg components to build a complete 3000 series system.
I recently picked up an A/D/S/ Atelier A2 integrated amplifier. For those who aren’t familiar, and I certainly wasn’t, one of Braun’s famous chief designers, Dieter Rams spent some time designing high end, low profile stereo components. These were imported under license by A/D/S/. (An oversimplification I’m sure, but accurate to the best of my knowledge.) The A2 is another piece of a set that I don’t see come up for sale here or eBay with any frequency. It was unique and per some brief research, well regarded for it’s time. As far as how it sounds, I don’t have a lot to compare it to, but subjectivity I think it sounds great in my office through a set of JBL studio bookshelf speakers. (Sources: Ealry 90’s Sony turntable and Spotify over airplay to an airport express) The only things I do have to compare it to are a Sansui 5000x, a Yamaha CA 1010, the Tandberg TIA 3012A and a Marantz NR 1504. Plus I don’t have the infrastructure or space for an a/b comparison a-la new record day.
All that beings said, I’ve had nothing nothing but good experiences with the TIA 3012a and the Atelier A2.
What has your experience with these parts been?
