I became a fan the moment the song Disciple hit the airwaves. 200 mile round trip to see them in September? Doobie? Or, not Doobie? Count me in. Yes, time is running out for these original rockers. Saw America about a month ago. They are one original band member away from being a "tribute band". An endangered species to be sure. Making a 600-mile round trip to see Ambrose next month. 3 out of the 4 original members remain. In 1975, Ambrosia’s first album was a masterpiece (in my view). Texture, rhythm, creativity, beautiful vocals, the occasional unexpected and, yes, fun. I also sold lots of speakers using that 60-second transition from Nice,Nice,Very Nice to the intro of Time Waits for No One. Crank the volume up to 8.5 ... the winding of the clock ... then B-O-O-M!! Made it a no-brainer to buy bigger/better stuff that played L-O-U-D!! It’s a long-overdue "Thank You" from me to the band. A little music trivia: Alan Parsons produced the first Ambrosia album. And all the original Ambrosia musicians played on the Alan Parsons Project album. The big question for the Doobie Brothers concert? Who do we want invite, and sit with for 4 hours in the car on the way up and back? |
Thanks, @larsman ....Got excited about the tour until I saw the sites....only 3 possible if spouse and self wanted to take 3 days to do so....and the tix $ would likely be of the 'nosebleed' variety since they haven't toured in decades.... 3 days? Get there, get back (to where we belong...*g*), and we like to wander locales that we've no other reason to visit....just 'cuz.... Only time live for the DBros. was in Oakland CA when we called SF home. I'm obvious as to the guy wearing hearing protection over my aids, as the audience yells and whistles pierces like a dirty white noise that blows out my hearing if I don't. That stems from a Houston concert @ Cynthia Woods when my hearing went 'pop' and mostly stayed that way.... I can handle 'loud', Yes. But I want the volume control over it sans the crowd. @saugertiesbob ....What's your fav groups? Can I make fun of them? Only fair, there...🤨 |
@saugertiesbob The music category is generally pretty informative (for me). Although I dislike fundamentally negative threads like "Are there any recording artists you just can’t listen too?" Who cares? |
@macg19 ...agreed....I'd rather focus on artists and bands that I appreciate what and how they 'do what they do' v. what and who I don't.... Just a personal quirk, I guess... Pardon if it riles... |
