The Good Stuff

There are simply two kinds of music, good music and the other kind ... the only yardstick by which the result should be judged is simply that of how it sounds. If it sounds good it's successful; if it doesn't it has failed. --  Duke Ellington

This purpose of this thread is to provide a place to post outstanding examples of the Good Music.

Bluegrass in my mind is white people's Blues

That would be Country music.  Real country music that is.  Blues is about women, sex and booze.   Country music used to be about that also.

If you look down on these hill-billy’s , some of them must have went to Vanderbilt

Music "cuse they all went down on a Beethoven 5th which I can’t get on .

It is on there though.

It's obvious from the get-go these are very good artists .

Yes ,rok2Id , good is good  and bad is bad, we have a lot of both, just keep trying .

P.S.  Allison is from Ilinois, near Chicago, IMO the perfect  thing to prove what I say .

Count Basie

BASIE AT BIRDLAND

Roulette / EMI     1961 / 2007

Notes : If the repertoire on this album is heavily weighted toward the Blues, this is, after all, at its core, a Kansas City band and one that is able to show the infinite variety and invention that can be drawn from this simple form.  Sixteen swinging men at their peak, off the road and playing at the club they call home -- it doesn't get any better!

Healing Tide by The War And Treaty. TWAT (oh my ;-) are actually Michael Trotter Jr. and Tanya Trotter, a Gospel duo. This wonderful 2018 album was produced by another Christian, the great Buddy Miller.

They will be performing at the upcoming Waterfront Blues Festival in Portland Oregon on Saturday July 2nd. Taj Mahal will be on stage the following day, but I believe without his partner on his new album with Ry Cooder.

He made thundering pieces and beautiful  small  Quarte 's and unusual Opera's

played all over Europe

The only good thing of combat is you know who you are.

The worst thing is you know but turn away till you don’t remember .

God as my witness I would have gone in that School with anything or nothing

Our Governor, at a press conference immediately after the incident, spent the entire time talking about the 'bravery' of the police.   Now, he claims he was 'misled' as to the actual events that took place.  But you know, normal people don't want to hear about the 'bravery' of cops when 19 children are lying dead.  That should not be the first thing out of his mouth.  Just goes to show you how shallow and unfeeling some people are.  They recite the same political nonsense without any sense or appreciation of time, place or circumstance.  Like robots with a shorted circuit.

The cops:  A big cowboy hat and a gun does not make you a hero.  Action does.

God as my witness I would have gone in that School with anything or nothing , I'm old but I'm still agile and strong .

It's been a while since I've heard Rossini.

Had to do two things , bring out the Warrior in me and get same from a powerful Orchestra . Here we go !

I think that was for cash for the Young German Orchestra .

This little piece has helped me shut up a few fools who said Puccini was a one trick pony etc ,etc .

Julia Fischer

Oh , by the way she had just finished a Violin Concerto  and has a fine  voice as well.
