The Good Stuff

There are simply two kinds of music, good music and the other kind ... the only yardstick by which the result should be judged is simply that of how it sounds. If it sounds good it's successful; if it doesn't it has failed. --  Duke Ellington

This purpose of this thread is to provide a place to post outstanding examples of the Good Music.

Now , since our leader is looking for the "Good Stuff "  I can not say the LPO is the best Orchestra in the world ,but I will say nobody is better .

AT LAST !

Army Alaska now wears the Greatest Patch ever , the 11th Airborne Division ,

I was mean  as hell when they took mine away ! .

Oh , by the way she had just finished a Violin Concerto  and has a fine  voice as well.

The band was the Young German in Frankfurt .

This Grieg Piano Concerto is one of those Played often , one of the Greats .

This German Artist is a very good as you will hear .

What is very unusual is Julia Fisher is widely considered the best violinist in the world !

Sonny Stitt could carry a melody an improv  at the same time .

IMO , the Greatest  American Jazz Man !

P.S.  made more records than any Jazz player on any instrument  .

" Moonlight in Vermont" IMO , is one of the best of American Standards !

This one is a beauty  .

I can't speak for others with my many flaws . but for me something  knocks me over

at first hearing or never .

Speaking of good things rok2id , I could have told Putin that people fighting on their own land fight like hell .

From what I have seen on TV last night logistics have got the Ukraines those self-tracking shoulder missiles "cus it alone could blow up the 2 Russian air strikes I saw blow up!

No joke , If I was there I would grab an AK ., I’m still strong and a great shot .

Cheers

Germans sent a load of anti-tank missiles to day , Briits have send all kinds of stuff, Canada ammo and believe it or not Canadians have great cybor which has been there. Almost all NATO boys are doing what they must .

The best news is Sweden and Finland are coming on board . Russians know what the bad-ass fins are like.

True but not much known , Sweden has the best plane for plane air force there is,

a hundred Swedish Grippens would end it all .

A fantastic thing took place, ,engineers put out TNT for a bridge the Russians were using for tanks , which was using set off by radio , but radio did not work.

One soldier just stood up and went down and set it off with his hand and himself . How brave can a man be !

God Bless the Ukrainians .

P..S . I don’t see them given up any time soon . The President saying "I need ammo, not a ride " did much for moral . Country is a big as Texas Lots of forests to strike from.

When I want to hear the best in Jazz this is my man ! I  The improv King for melody is around .

rok , These Oscar Peterson at the Stratford are some

of the best clips ever on here ! Pure Canadian Class . Every note is a jewel, but "How High the Moon " floored me out ! Best trio ever IMO .

.

The one I had was lost in a move , got to get another ..

Cheers

2id , If you put up a good mono system it can be better with jazz .

I did it for a few years and it was very good .

You don’t need much depth and spead very often .

And Grado makes a nice mono for about 100 $ .

I hear you on Oscar face, , but no joke, a Canadian would tend to move back

with such a great duo . It does make a difference where you are from .

P.S .

4 guys not long out of the 22-3 Canadian French Regiment took off To Ukaine yesterday .

Kicker is one of them was best sniper in Canadian Army .

Another unreal was a Brit Col , tall and strong but at least 65 was in line to sign up.

They said , well Col. we don’t know where to put you , He said, you don’t have to ,I’m signed for 3 months as a common soldier.

I NEVER would have thought that people would Pull  together  like they are in a million years.

The Greatest of the Great ! Jussi Bjoerling .

The Great Pavarotti sang this for many years as his go-to from Puccini , it was fantastic to say the least .

For years I had Puccini lovers, like myself ,over ,I had it all .

I often had Jussi sing it right after the Big man .

Often people were speechless and /or tearful . Beyond the fantastic into the impossible !

I now nothing of beautiful voices , man and woman , than Victoria de los Angeles

and Jussi Bjorling, and no one that could make it so than Puccini , in ’La Boheme"

He sung with a tear in his voice and she heard him . And he her .

mahgister, I can only think the universe made these two to sing with and for each other .

When I lived in Berlin Pavarotti ,in his prime, was in town for "La Boheme"  and was on TV talking about Alto's with some big shot .

He went through a dozen or so in really interesting this and that's .

Big shot asked about  Bjoerling, Pavarotti just turned his head and said " don't ask me that , I'm just human " .

Well rok , A recording is not a live concert .

I n the last 50+ yearsI have been to over 2,000 live Classical concerts .

A dozen of them were the LSO . They have the power of Berlin and with English

composers (some) the melody of Vienna . It is what I said it is , good as any .

When Previn had it  better at times .I have not heard Cleveland in 40 yrs,

All I know is that Cleveland is THE poorest of any major American city , what

that means for the Orchestral world I now not what..

If that is not a Great Orchestra there is no such thing !

Folks seemed to agree .

True, but virtually the rest of the entire world has a European "bias" on Classical Music .

Of course they will go to great American Orchestra’s that come to Europe,

but seldom will go to the USA .

Almost every American true lover of classical that has a few bucks , does go to Europe .

Very true rok , only America could have given the world  rock & roll !

Cheers

Our Leader was wise in saying any genre . Many of the folk songs of other countries can unite the entire as one . This was the one that can do same for all

Scotland.. These Scotts in their thousands are out to play Denmark at home

The "High" means the dead Scottish Soldier will be back home before his love.

It is so meaning full in that the Scottish Soldiers were the ones first to battle by the English .

That beat on the Good Tanyas is a killer , sweet !

Blues with a feeling Is in for me .Cary should have passed in at least 2036 in Chi ,

Without those

ghetto’s I’d live in Chicago tomorrow ! IMO the real American City.

God as my witness I would have gone in that School with anything or nothing , I'm old but I'm still agile and strong .

I think that was for cash for the Young German Orchestra .

This little piece has helped me shut up a few fools who said Puccini was a one trick pony etc ,etc .

Cheers

It's been a while since I've heard Rossini.

Had to do two things , bring out the Warrior in me and get same from a powerful Orchestra . Here we go !

The only good thing of combat is you know who you are.

The worst thing is you know but turn away till you don’t remember .

I saw Abbot , complete and total phony , At least he missed the NRA .

I was in it back when it was for hunters . Left when corporations bought it .

Cheers

P.S. when you sell your soul you are empty, half of us have .

This is Leos Jancek the Great Czech modern composer .

He is much loved with younger Classical players .

He made thundering pieces and beautiful  small  Quarte 's and unusual Opera's

played all over Europe

Yes ,rok2Id , good is good  and bad is bad, we have a lot of both, just keep trying .

P.S.  Allison is from Ilinois, near Chicago, IMO the perfect  thing to prove what I say .

If you look down on these hill-billy’s , some of them must have went to Vanderbilt

Music "cuse they all went down on a Beethoven 5th which I can’t get on .

It is on there though.

It's obvious from the get-go these are very good artists .

That is normal for those who don’t have German .

Every piece he wrote had written said " Glory to God" or the like,

No German how would you know ?

Nearly all that that that was sung was about Jesus .

One piece that the above was written by Matin Luther, got to me .!

You can buy English paper on almost all Bach . Handel is great, Bach is the

Ultimate .

Cheers

This lady did quite well on it.

As for the Count ............well. he's THE  Count !

I always play this one the 4th because I am proud 1 cared for the anti-air guns of The U. S. S. Hancock for my 3 years. This Great Ship that fought better then any Carrier  WWII Korea and Vietnam. There it was the oldest ship but made more sorties than any other .

Her men loved her, she alive to us and we all went out for her .

Sleep in the Ocean now loved one .

AMEN

I was also proud that we shoot at balls in the sea to find 100 Sailors fit to go on land with the 38 Marines always on the carrier, should that be need, with M1 rifles in hand.

Since I was a born hunter, got my first deer at 12 . I came in 3rd .Even tried in over the ship nets in the Phillpines , no sweat !
